| Sudwerk's Dramatic Double
DAVIS, Calif., Jan. 16 (Reuters) FC Sudwerk Red rallied in spectacular fashion Sunday, scoring the winning goal with 6 seconds to go, while sister squad Black sailed to a 12-7 triumph. Both the Dirty Little Secrets and Black Bombers improved to 2-0 on the season. The DL Secrets provided the biggest drama of the day, as it fought off stubborn Stone Monkeys, which rebounded from an 8-5 halftime deficit to tie the game at 11 in the waning minutes. Mel Meyer, though, delivered the victory by slaming home the game-winner in the final seconds. DL Secrets got strong peformances from goalie Craig Dandurand, Meyer and Renae Wurschmidt Owens, among others. Meanwhile, the Bombers overcame a pesky Humboldt Grown B side. The Bombers began hot, scoring the first four goals, and took a 6-3 lead into the locker room before HGB stormed back to within one goal with five minutes remaining. At 8-7, with the game on the line, J.B. Rudell and Joe Schmidt each scored in a four-goal flurry that capped the win. Next Sunday, the Bombers face Humboldt Grown A at 1 p.m. and the DL Secrets play Humboldt Grown B at 2 p.m. ## |
