ICS:  ICS stands for Integrated and Coordinated Science and your teacher this semester is Fred "Derf" Carrington.  I am a math and science teacher of many years experience teaching middle school, high school and college for over 40 years.  (Yes, I do predate recorded history!) My primarty love is physics, but I also have a great affinity for mathematics and chemistry.  I will be your teacher for one semester and after your adventure with me you will be working with Ms. Evens.  ?? I hope you learn to love science as much as I do for it is a wonderful adventure into the world around us.

TEXTS: "Conceptual Physics"  - Paul Hewett
          "Active Physics & Chem" - Art Eisenkrafdt

Course Outline: We will be covering selected topics from Physics & Chemistry. Much of the material you will be using will be written by your teacher

Exams : Approximately one exam per unit worth 100 points.  There will be a Final at the end of the semester worth 200 points.

Homework: Homework will be given nightly and due the next day.  It will turned in about 1/2 the time, on a random basis.   All homework will be kept in a notebook (portfolio) and turned in at the end of the semester. The portfolio will be worth 100 points.

Projects & Labs: You will be working on about three projects this semester.  The projects  are hand-on applications of the the material you are learning in class.

Rocket Project - Due in mid October. Thiis is a required project worth 200 points and a great way to earn extra credit

Required Items- You will need a scientific  calculator for this course.  A graphing calculator is the best and the TI-89 is the best of the graphing calculators (but they are pricey) Also please store your assignments in a notebook ready to turn in at announced times.
