Unit VI - Vibrations, Waves & Sound

Unit VII - Temperature & Kinetic Theory

Unit VIII- Heat & Thermodynamics

Unit IX - Light: Geometric Optics

Unit X - The Wave Nature of Light

Unit XI - Special Theory of Relativity

Exams : Approximately one exam per unit.  There will be a final at the end of each semester.  Each exam will be worth 100 pointd.

Homework: Homework will be given nightly and due the next day.  It will be turned in about 1/2 the time on a ramdon basis. HW can be turned in one day late for 1/2 credit (full cridit if an excused absense.) All homework will be stored in a notebook (portfolio) and turned in at the end of the semester for 100 points of credit.

Projects & Labs: you will be working on at least one project a semester and about 5 labs.  The projects and labs are hands-on applications of the the material you are learning in class.

Rocket Project - The Rocket Project is one of the most exciting things you will do in school.  Rocket Day will be Wed. Oct. 27th.

Required Item
s - You are required to have a calculator for this course.  I highly recommend a graphing calculator and the TI-89 is the best.  Also keep all of your assignments in a folder to be turned in at announced times.  I am expecting you to take notes so bring appropriate materials to class.
