A
double-delight by Cameroon ace Marius Pietnick helped Safa to
claim an expected (4-1) large victory over relegated outfits Majed,
in the 21st Week of league action.
This
was Safa's fourth consecutive win in both League and Cup
competitions under the helm of new manager Ghassan Abou Diab, a
very precious victory shooting the side to the fourth spot, their
best-ever this season.
Safa
are currently boasting 29 points from 21 fixtures, trailing
third-ranked Akha-Ahly by 4 points following their provincial
side's (1-0) loss to newly-crowned league champions Nijmeh on
Saturday.
Majed,
who couldn't stand the heat of the too-demanding top flight, were
no match for their opponents throughout the game, holding on till
the 16th minute to concede the first goal as Pietnick nodded home
from a sitter after being set up by Chadi Al-Chami, despite the
helpless efforts by central defender Camara. The Cameroon forward
aggravated the score line in the 61st minute through a powerful
header past keeper Nassif Atwi, nine minutes before Senegalese
defender Hashem Kandoura pulled a goal back from the spot. Veteran
striker Walid Dahrouj scored his fourth goal in the last 5 matches
for Safa, in the 71st minute, from a scrambled goalmouth, before
Chadi Al-Chami completed the rout in the 90th minute, courtesy of
a diving header following a neat cross by international versatile
defender Ahmed Al-Naamani.
