Bob Abate will replace Kevin Creen as head coach of the Wildcat’s Boy’s Track Team.
After 3 years of coaching 2 and assistant 1 as head coach Creen has decided not to return for another year. Abate a gym teacher and long time assistant coach will step in at the helm.
Creen will be returning to school for a masters in education and will be “Unable to give the kids the time it will take to bring home a championship. I have enjoyed my time here and am making a career move. I love to coach and hope to return in the future but this was the right thing for me right now.” Told Creen.
Abate an assistant for 7 years under 2 head coaches will take the team from here. “There is a long tradition of wining in the school that I hope I can uphold. For a long time I was assistant first for Connif (Head coach for 11 years before Creen) then for Creen now it’s my turn to step up. I feel I can lead this team to another championship” Abate stated.
Athletic Director Charlie Levrin asked the team who they felt could best take over with the departure of Creen, Abate was the answer. “The boys on the team knew the coaches better then I did. They have spent many hours after school with them. So when it came time to choose a new Head Coach I knew they would know the best man for the job.” Levrin said at a recent interview.
“There is great talent in this school and anything less then a championship would be a disappointment, so that's exactly what we are after here.” Abate sounded confident in his message, and with the team having 13 championships in the last 15 years why not.
