Government Music Control
Should It Be Allowed

The government had no right to censor music recordings. Music today is much like poetry or books were years ago. What right dose the government have to tell artists what they can and cannot talk about at their job. If they say that violent music will brainwash children into thinking that violence is okay maybe they should censor the movie, books, and even the news witch all talk about violence.  The Bill of Rights were created for jus this reason so why can they so simply decided it doesn't apply here.

Before music became widely popular to the extent it is now people would write books and poems about how they feel, books and poems witch also glorified violence. The government never made such a big deal about that so why all the sudden is music any different. The artist express what they grew up with and many of them grew up in downtown cities where they had to rob to eat and kill to survive so why can't they express it after all music is there job. No one tells Barbara Walters what to talk about she reports on what the people want to hear about.

The big issue is that the violent lyrics will brainwash kids into thinking that it is all right to act violent. There are already restrictions that don't allow children under 18 to buy music recordings marked with a parental advisory sticker so it becomes up to the parents what they let their children listen to. How can the government tell parents how they have to raise there children, it is there decision and if they find the music alright who are they to intervene. Just because a child hears something over and over again wont turn them into a killer there has to already be something inside of them that makes them think killing is all right not something the music did to them.

The artists are just trying to make a living doing what they know best and talking about issues that are real and need to be dealt with. If these issues are just covered up and swept out of the light they will never be fixed. Someone like Tupac talking about having to kill people just to live in the hood shouldn't be told that he can't rap about that. After all that is the way of life for them and by bringing it to the surface maybe it will be dealt with instead of constantly being denied of its existence.

So for those reasons and a thousand more artists expressing life should not be censored into talking about green meadows and a great life but rather real issues about a real life. If no other form of media that also talks about death and drugs is being picked on they why should music be singled out and put on the hot seat. The government should be more concerned in making the things that are being talked about stopped rather then making the people talking about the things stop.
