| U.S. Senate: Minnesota and the DFL Party are truly fortunate to have a person with Amy Klobuchar's integrity, intelligence and passion as our United States Senator. Amy rose to the top of a dynamic field of candidates because she clearly articulated a vision for this state and country. U.S. Congress: A republican nightmare, veteran Tim Walz hits head-on all of the issues that our past representative had been afraid to address. With heavy involvement in the military, school-teaching and coaching, Walz brings something new to First District's House seat - leadership. Attorney General: Lori Swanson stands up for ordinary Minnesotans against companies and criminals that break the law. She will continue to fight for HMO and health care reform and will crack down on pharmaceutical companies that price-gouge our patients. Lori will hold companies accountable when they unlawfully stack the deck against our citizens while holding all the cards. Swanson will assist county attorneys in committing dangerous sexual predators and prosecuting meth dealers to keep our communities safe. State Auditor: Rebecca Otto is a dedicated public servant with an unflinching commitment to accuracy. She believes government should be accountable to you, not special interest groups like Taxpayer's League, and as State Auditor she will work to ensure accountability at all levels of government, not just local governments. Rebecca will stand up against bad state fiscal policy that has been undermining the financial stability of our schools and our local governments and driving up our property taxes. Secretary of State: Mark Ritchie worked for Governor Perpich in the Department of Agriculture, working on trade policy and the farm crisis. He created the League of Rural Voters ten years ago to increase voter registration and civic participation in rural communities. He created a non-partisan voter registration campaign, where over 1,000 groups registered over 5 million new voters nationwide - despite obstacles by former Minnesota Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer. State Senator District 27: Recently, Dan Sparks' identity protection package was signed into law, a big victory for you - the voter! Dan was able to secure more than $10 million to fund regional programs including flood relief and road improvement. When government is ineffective with gas gouging, skyrocketing property tax, and endless fees, Dan Sparks works to reform it and remove the barriers so you can get ahead. Minnesota House of Representatives 27A: Robin Brown is a positive leader representing Minnesota families. The mother of six children, Robin and her husband Joe live in rural Freeborn County where she raises Peruvian Paso horses. Robin serves as an art teacher at Albert Lea High School and campaigned full-time this summer to earn your vote. Her legislative priorities will be quality education, assessable health care and good jobs. Minnesota House of Representatives 27B: Jeanne Poppe is an effective and engaged civic leader. Her experiences governing on the Austin City Council and as state representative provided local constituents with an active demonstration of her ability to communicate, make decisions, and problem solve. Jeanne's educational background as a counselor means she listens and learns before she speaks and decides. Focusing on shared values and beliefs which lead to collaboration and cooperation are the hallmark of her leadership syle. |

| REPRESENTATIVE ROBIN BROWN APPOINTED TO NEW JOBS TASK FORCE
ST. PAUL, MN -State Representative Robin Brown (DFL-Albert Lea) has been appointed by Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher to serve on a newly created Minnesota House Jobs Task Force. Citing Minnesotas historic unemployment numbers, Kelliher said the task force will focus on economic development, capital investments and tax policies aimed at creating significant job growth for Minnesotans. While we did get a bit of encouraging news this past week when we learned Minnesotas unemployment rate had dropped a bit, we also know job recovery is often one of the latest indicators to rebound in a recession, said Speaker Kelliher. That is why we will continue to make job creation a top priority in the Minnesota House. The new task force will develop a jobs plan for the 2010 legislative session that will build on this years initiatives, with special emphasis on bio business, construction and green jobs. It will be headed by three members: Rep. Alice Hausman, Chair of the Capital Investment Committee, Rep. Ann Lenczewski, Chair of the Tax Committee and Rep. Tom Rukavina, Chair of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee. Even though we are beginning to see signs of economic recovery, we all know too many people who are still looking for work or who have recently lost their job, said Rep. Brown. Job retention and creation will continue to be a top priority for the state legislature, and Im honored to have the opportunity to work with other members of the House from both sides of the aisle to help put Minnesotans back to work. Speaker Kelliher indicated the Minnesota House Jobs Task Force will begin meeting in September and will continue to hold sessions throughout the fall in preparation for the 2010 Legislative Session. I am grateful to Rep. Brown for agreeing to serve on this task force, said Kelliher in naming the task force members. In her three years in the Legislature, she has demonstrated a good understanding of the policies we can pursue that will help spark economic growth. I look forward to working with her to produce a viable plan to help Minnesotans get back to work and bring our state back to economic prosperity. |
