Meeting Minutes

January 9, 2002

1. Administrative Items

A.  Joint session with Interdisciplinary Transportation Team
The CACT meeting followed the first joint session with the Falls Church Interdisciplinary Transportation Team.  At the Interdisciplinary Transportation Team meeting, proposals were submitted for responding to and considering resident traffic requests.  Discussion specifically focused on pedestrian requests made by the Falls Church, and improvement plans for Hillwood Avenue.  Summary comments from the CACT to city staff are attached.
B. Review and Approval of CACT Minutes
December 2001 meeting minutes were approved.
 
2. Discussion Items
A. Development Projects
The group discussed the Broadway site plan - and in particular issues related to pedestrian and bicycle access.  The group expressed some concern about pedestrians crossing mid-block   Overall, not much substantive discussion took place but there was general approval expressed with regard to the plan.
B. Progress on the Pedestrian/Walkability Plan
Progress has been slow on the next phase of the Pedestrian Plan.  CACT members were asked to review the draft and prepare comments as appropriate for the next meeting.

C. New Bus System
Helen mentioned that new options are being considered for a city circulator bus system.  Several options are being considered and a decision is expected soon.

3. Other
Meredith Soule mentioned that this was her last CACT meeting. The group expressed their thanks for her years of service.


The meeting ended at 8:40 pm.
