| My TII is a 10th Anniversary edition that was only made in 1988 along with the convertible Rx-7. I bought this car in Oct. 1999 for $2500.00 after driving it about 1 month I noticed it had several problems, one being that the compression was low and the radiator was under excessive pressure which I later figured out to be bad engine seals. Out of luck I parked the car untill Sep. 2002. I started with the motor. It took me about 7 weeks to clean, inspect, and figure out what I was doing. All vacuum lines were miss routed, plugged or broke. The wiring harness was destroyed from age/heat. Both oil cooler lines were leaking. Two of the manifold bolts were broke of in the rotor housing which I carefully removed saving the housings. Both the water pump and radiator were destroyed from overheating. The motor mounts were bad along with injectors, cooling fan, busted thermostat housing, engine fuse box was melted, gear shifter bushings, pulsation dampner was leaking fuel, busted power steering lines. The front and intermediate rotor housings were also cracked from heat. Aside from the engine the power windows didnt work along with gas gauge, head lights, sun roof, transmission was bad, cluth pressure plate were both bad, rear end was leaking. After assessing all the damage I purchased a rebuild kit from Atkins Rotary.com for about $550.00 which contained all gasket/ seals that was needed. I also purchased new apex seals, corner seals, and rotor oils seals. A revised oil pressure pellet was also purchased for the front main. Side seals springs ect. were inspected and reused. I rebuilt the transmission for $1000.00 parts were from Mazda. Atkins also has a How to video on rebuilding the 13b. Check out my links page for parts,service and info. |
