(Notes : Birth before 1811. ONE OF 4 CHILDREN. Obtained 100 acre grant at Middle Head, Ingonish in 1871. This included what is now the Keltic Lodge, Holes 1 and 18 on the golf course and the main beach. Their log house stood on the site of the Keltic Lodge. Children sold land to Henry Corsen in 1898.)

8 : James Christopher Dauphinee, born in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia the 27 October 1757, was christened in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia the 27 October 1757, died in French Village, Halifax, Ns the 31 May 1835, son of Jean (John) Louis Dauphinee and Maria Elizabeth Banvard), married Sarah Salome Phyllis Veniot, the 29 December 1776 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

(Notes : Married in Dutch Reformed Church Halifax, Moved to Sydney Mines with brother John in 1811, then they both moved to Jersey Cove (A.K.A. Dauphinee Cove) in 1812. In the Lunenburg Census of 1793 he is listed as a farmer with 6 Cattle. Received 100 acres of land from his fathers will in 1799. He is buried in the old Burial Grounds, French Village, Halifax, N.S.)

(Notes : Came from Ireland to Cape Breton in 1808. Worked that summer at the St. John's Nfld. fish factory. Worked at Sydney mines from 1808 to at least 1815, and probably 1818 or 1819. In 1808 he moved to Jersy Cove (A.K.A. Dauphinee Cove.) )

(Notes : Born Mid-ocean or England. In 1793 he apprenticed to James McKay of Pictou to learn farming and Joinery. They came to Cape Breton in Aug. 1816 when George began to work in the Sydney Mines. They lived in : Little Bras D'Or in Fall 1816; George's River 1830; Ingonish 1836.)

16 : Jean (John) Louis Dauphinee, born in Montbiliard, Switzerland the 4 February 1724, died in St. John's , Lunenburg the 30 December 1798, son of John Joseph Dauphinee and Marguerite Certier), married Maria Elizabeth Banvard, the 20 May 1753 in St. Paul's Anglican, Halifax (born in 1732 and died the 19 January 1799, daughter of Pierre Banvard and Francois Jeanperrin).

(Notes : Jean was born on 4 Feb 1724 in Longeville, Doubs, Montbeliard, Alsace, Switzerland (now France). He immigrated to N. S. from the port of Hellevoet Roads, Rotterdam with his younger brother David on 16 May 1752 aboard the ship SPEEDWELL. Arrived in Halifax in June of same year. He was a yeoman (soldier) in 1796 census in Lunenburg Co., NS. He was promised a grant of 50 Acres of land free of taxes and rent for ten years and would be given additional land as his family increased. He had 7 boys and 3 girls. He signed a will on 15 Jun 1796 in Lunenburg Co., NS. He died on 31 Dec 1798 in Lunenburg Co., NS. He had his will probated (proved) on 14 Jan 1799 in Lunenburg Co., NS. (Will Book 1 page 155 ). Willed 850 acres to his sons and daughters. Name also written as Deauphene and Dauphiney. )
