Frankie learns to fly!!!
The art of hovering is not as easy as one would think!  Many forces on the aircraft must be counteracted  in order for it to remain stable- This is hard!
My Instructor takes off and launches us into the skies- Where we begin our lesson.
Lesson 1 accomplished and Frankie starts to fulfill a lifelong dream-  To learn how to fly a helicopter.
Frankie flys the helicopter back from Lansing, this takes total concentration focus and a very steady hand.
On July 27, 2003 Kris arranges helicopter lessons for me for our 7th anniversary
Facts:
A helicopter flies in 95% of all weather conditions, where a small plane is limited to just 60% of conditions.
A helicopter can travel at a speed of 0 to 160 mph!
The price of a 2 seat helicopter as seen above is comparable to the price of a new 27 foot SeaRay boat.
Helicopters are a safer form of air transportation than airplanes.
A helicopter only flies 500 to 600 ft off the ground where a small plane is required to be 1000 to 3000 ft up.
A helicopter only needs a 200 X 200 ft clearing to land or take off from.
It would take just under an hour to fly from Harrison Twp. to Mack Lake by helicopter.
My instructor commutes by helicopter daily, from Fowlerville, MI to Kalamazoo, MI in just under an hour, where he teaches one of the best helicopter fight programs in the country at Western Michigan University.
Look Mom, no door on my side, I flew without it  :-)
