MATHEMATICS
DEPARTMENT EXPECTATIONS
Students in the math classroom are expected to abide by all school
policies as specified in the handbook.
1. MATERIALS - Bring all the materials
needed for class - You will not be allowed to go to your locker - Failure to
bring materials to class may result in a retention to be served within 24
hours.

Current textbook, workbooks, and Amsco SAT Prep Book.
$
Ruler & pencils with erasers for ALL
math work.
$ Red
pencil or pen for correcting.
$ THREE RING BINDER TO BE USED FOR MATH ONLY.
$ TI - 83 Plus or 84 Plus Graphing calculator.
(these can be engraved with student name in the math SSC)
$
Loose leaf paper and graph paper.
$
Protractor and compass (All Advanced Math students).
2. HOMEWORK - Homework is given each
day. Homework should be set up according
to teacher's guidelines.
$ Do
all homework neatly and in pencil.
$ ATTEMPT ALL homework problems. All problems are copied as given with no
blanks.
$ CORRECT all odd numbered
problems BEFORE coming to
class.
$ All
work must be shown - NO WORK - NO
CREDIT. Copying another’s
homework, marking an answer correct when it is not, and marking
answer columns with correct answer without the proper work is CHEATING. If caught providing or copying homework, you
will be held to the policy in the handbook.

$ You
must have your homework with you in class on the day it is due. You will not be allowed to go to your locker
to get it. Failure to have homework completed
on the day it is due will result in a grade of zero for that assignment.
$ When
you are absent, homework may be made up by following the syllabus or by doing
the next problem set or sets.
Missed homework is due in 24 hours per day for students absent one-two
days. For extended absence it is the student's responsibility to meet
with her teacher on her return to school and set a time line for missed work.
$ Class
projects and extra credit assignments must follow the guidelines set by the
classroom teacher.
3. MAKEUPS
$ Math
makeup day is WEDNESDAY in
Room 104 promptly at 2:10 pm.
$ Tests
and quizzes must be made up on the Wednesday immediately following your absence.
$ PLEASE NOTE: Making up work is
the student's responsibility and takes precedence over retention,
extracurricular activities and work schedules.
$ Absence
the day before a test is NOT
a reason to take the test at a later date.
Students should come in prepared to take the
test as noted in the syllabus. Students know that the math department quizzes
and tests on alternate weeks
throughout the year.
4. EXTRA HELP
$ Extra
help is available during the school day by appointment with your teacher and
when the Mathematics SSC is
open for help. Extra help is also
available before or after school with your teacher.
$ If
you seek extra help in the SSC, YOU
MUST SIGN IN.
$ If a
teacher asks you to stay after school for extra help, you are expected to make
the necessary adjustments
to your transportation and work schedules so that you may stay.
5. GRADING POLICIES
$ For
each term approximately 50% of your grade is tests, 30% is quizzes, and 20% is
daily assignments, except for
some upper level classes. Refer to the student handbook for semester average
information.(Page 8 - Exams)
$ Tests
will be announced in advanced. Quizzes
may or may not be announced. Sometimes a
homework assignment
could be counted as a quiz grade.
