Issues of equal right have been around forever. The current discourse is on affirmative action. The argument is that affirmative action represents another form of racism, which leaves white people at a disadvantage. People of color, particularly Black people have endured racism for centuries and are still being oppressed. Such images as the one above is a clear example that affirmative action is still necessary to insure that people of color get fair opportunities. When we still have police profiling of people of color, unequal distribution of wealth, unequal schooling, unequal housing, unequal employment, ,etc people of color deserve some preferential treatments.
What do you think?
Did you read the latest headline from the Chicago Sun-Times (08/21/02)?
If you didn't, let me inform you. Keep in mind that this article took three plus pages informing us about the diminished Polish (the writer used Poles), Italian, and German population in Chicago. The writer (his name?) stated how these three groups used to be the dominant group, now they are a minority. Now the Mexicans and racial groups (meaning blacks) dominate Chicago. And he had the nerve to refer to this as a melting pot gone south.
More like a full pot of ethnic intolerance, bigotry, and ignorance. What do you think?
Can you believe this load of crock!
