Rem, Declan, & Dawson's Story

Our mommy and daddy had been trying really hard to have a baby.  After a couple of years of trying they finally decided to go to the fertility clinic.  There they were told that they had a really good chance of conceiving and had three IUIs (intrauterine insemination) done to no avail.  They then had IVF (in vitro fertilization done).  Mommy had to go through a lot for this procedure.  She took many medications and had needles and all kinds of things.  When they took out her eggs, it was very painful and she did not feel very good for a few days.  Then mommy and daddy found out that they had six embryos growing strong so they had two put back into her tummy on October 14, 2000.
Mommy then got really sick with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome where fluid builds up in the abdominal cavity and had to be in hospital for four and a half weeks.  She ended up developing blood clots that went into her lungs.  She was put on medication to help dissolve the clots and was resting a lot.  She finally was able to go home and look after us there.
Mommy and daddy found out that they were having twins early on, about seven weeks gestation.  Mommy slowly started to get better and get her energy back and daddy was really helpful to her.  He was also very excited that he was going to be a daddy.  At 16 weeks gestation, mommy went for her routine ultrasound and daddy went along to take a look at us.  It was then that the doctor discovered that there were THREE of us.  Mommy and daddy couldn't believe what they were hearing and the doctor (very wonderful doctor) had to show us to them over and over and over before they could believe it.  They were a little scared and cried a little, but then they accepted that this was something they could handle and were cautious, but excited.
Four days later, January 26, 2001, mommy started to bleed lots and had to be rushed to the hospital by daddy.  They discovered that a portion of one of the placentas had torn, but said that it should heal on its own.  We were all still doing very well and our little
hearts were beating away.  Mommy stayed in the hospital for five days and daddy visited us all every day.  When mommy got out of the hospital she had to stay at home on partial bed rest which didn't really bother her much because she knew that it was going to be the best thing for all of us.
Things seemed to be going along fine and a Level II ultrasound was done on February 8, 2001.  We were sooooo cute and mommy and daddy found out that we were all boys.  We really put a funny look on their faces then.  WOW, three
boys!!!  It was a very proud moment for them.
On February 20, 2001, one of our waters broke and mommy was again rushed to the hospital by daddy.  They were then informed by the nurses and doctors that one of us was going to be delivered fairly soon.  It was such a blur, but they knew that we were not going to survive on earth because we were just too little yet at 21 weeks gestation.

REM was born at 9:25 a.m. and lived a very long and courageous four hours.  He weighed 12 ounces and was 10 inches long.  He went to be with the angels at 1:08 p.m.
DECLAN was then born at 1:40 p.m.  He too was born alive and lived for 1 hour 45 minutes.  He weighed 12.4 ounces and was 10 inches long.  He went to join his identical twin brother in heaven at 3:26 p.m.
DAWSON was the last triplet to be born at 1:46 p.m.  He lived for 3 hours 30 minutes and was quite a little fighter just like his brothers.  He weighed 11.4 ounces and was 9 1/2 inches long.  He also went to the beautiful playground above at 5:02 p.m.
