Joseph Mary Plunkett
Joseph Mary Plunkett, a noted poet and ardent patriot, (yet another Irish Poet) was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1879.  He was a close friend of Thomas MacDonagh and Padraic Pearse, (yet two more) noted Irish poets. Along with MacDonagh and Edward Martyn, he co-founded the Irish Theatre. During a 1916 uprising he was one of the signers of the Proclomation of the Irish Republic. When the uprising failed, he was captured, interred in the old Kilmainham jail, and sentanced to death by firing squad. The night before his excution, he married his fiance, Grace Gifford, in the jail's chapel. He was executed the following morning, May 4th, 1916. He was 28.
