The Raccoon is an adaptable animal in the family Procyonidae, it is common in many areas from woodland, praire to urban sprawl. It has very dexterous hands which it uses to hold its food with as it eats it. It may also rub its food to try to get dirt off or even cleanse it if there is water nearby. They vary in colour from grey to black and weigh from 3 - 8kg. They are active day and night and are usually soliditary though they may gather at rubbish piles where fights may occur. In the wild they can climb trees and have a generalistic diet. They live in many different habitats and in cities use the sewer system as there transportation. |
