They
are greedy dogs which can never have enough.
Isaiah 56:11
The
Setites have a pervasive grip on Baltimore's lower class and its gangs. Allowed in by Viktor Albrecht around a century
ago, the Setites had only one bump in the road to their current power base:
Camilla Delirou, late Regent of Baltimore's Chantry. The Tremere brought all of her influence and Prestation to bear
on keeping the Setites out, a personal grudge that eventually came to naught
when Camilla was assassinated by an Assamite assailant. The Setites have worked hard to become even
more corrupting during the interim, and no one else has attempted to oust the
clan.
Naya Khaamet
Head of
the Baltimore Temple, Naya was once an Egyptian dancer, centuries ago. Childe of the near-legendary Snake named
Apophis, Naya easily took control of the situation when she came to
Baltimore. She developed an easy
friendship with Reuben Shalowitz, and some have meekly suggested that Reuben
and Naya were the masterminds behind the entire 'Tremere - Setite War' and
their only real target was Camilla.
Whatever their relationship, Naya has proven to be a manipulator par
excellence, and is feared all throughout Baltimore.
Derrick Anderson
The
youngest Snake in the city is also one of the most high-profile and certainly
one of the most powerful. Derrick
controls three major neighborhoods: Cherry Hill, Druid Heights, and the
notorious Sandtown Winchester, as well as the projects that surround those
areas. He has a firm grip on the drug
trade and most of the street level arms deals have something to do with
him. Several gangs own allegiance to
him (whether they know it or not), and he often plays them against each other
simply to drive up the violence in certain areas (and to subsequently lower
property values, which causes people to go bankrupt, which causes lay-offs,
which causes poverty, which means more drug dealers, more gangs, and more arms
deals... and more money for Derrick and the Setites). He has something of a reputation all throughout Baltimore,
amongst the Kine and the Kindred, both Camarilla and Independent. Nobody who has any clue messes with Derrick
Anderson.
James Chamberlain
Once
considered the best defense lawyer in Baltimore, James was obviously corrupt
and seemed a perfect choice for the embrace by the Setites. In death he has continued to do what he does
best - get obviously guilty criminals free and on the streets. His actions have done more to further the Followers
of Set cause than imaginable, at least matching the corrupting influence of
Derrick Anderson and his gangstas... however, James' actions are 'legal'. He manages to get supposedly honest judges
and police officers to take major bribes; he makes it a priority to set drug
dealers, rapists, and pederasts free; he presents the most foul acts of sexual
deviancy to his juries and causes its members to go home, permanently altered
for the worse. He spreads doubt, sorrow,
fear, and deceit wherever he goes. He
considers himself Set's ultimate agent.
Setite
Holdings
The
Setites control very little materially, although their gun and drug trades
bring in massive amounts of cash.
However, they do control Cherry Hill, Druid Heights, Sandtown
Winchester, and most of the city's projects.
They also have more control over the judicial system and the Baltimore
City Police Department than any other clan in the city (now that Quentin
Mullough is gone, of course).
