The third door was an instant hit when it was introduced as a regular production option for the 1996 model year. Buyers find it a popular option because its such an affordable way to stretch the C/Ks versatility. Curb-side passengers can enter the spacious rear seating area without displacing front seat occupants. And, with the back seats folded to create a secure cargo hold, hefting bulky tool boxes inside is made easy by simply unlatching and opening the third door.
In many households trucks are replacing sedans as the familys vehicle of choice. Given this trend, you dont need a Ouija board to tell you that trucks which offer the utmost comfort and convenience will prosper. On the heels of Chevys successful three-door extended-cab pickups, customers will inevitably demand a four-door version in the lineup. Enter the emerald-green concept vehicle. Its mission is to provide truck fans the chance to see and evaluate a handy feature thats just around the corner.
The fourth door is added on this trucks left (drivers) side. While the new parts are hand-made prototype pieces, they are (for all intents) mirror images of production designs used on the C/Ks right side. Hinges, latches, seals and seat-belt details have all been faithfully transposed to create the four-door show vehicle.
