1997 C/K Pickup Engines |
A Vortec 4300 V6 engine with Sequential Fuel Injection is standard in Chevy C/K 1500 Series models. This refined V6 has impressive credentials:Vortec 4300 V6
All Vortec engines have Sequential Fuel Injection (SFI), for quick starts, whatever the climate. C/K Pickup Vortec engines include a 4300 V6, a 5000 V8, a 5700 V8 and a 7400 V8.
With 19 years of continuous development leading up to its recent introduction, the Vortec V6 has earned a reputation as a powerful, dependable and economical truck engine. Conceived in the energy crisis of the Seventies, the 90-degree V6 has matured in the Nineties to become a sophisticated and successful member of the GM engine family.
The Vortec 4300 V6 is the culmination of this evolutionary process. It provides many of the performance characteristics of a V8 engine while maintaining the fuel economy of a V6.
This versatile V6 is distinguished by a host of technical advances, including a gear-driven balance shaft, a steel hydraulic roller lifter camshaft, high-swirl/fast-burn cylinder heads and a tuned, two-piece intake manifold. Many of the design technologies introduced on the Vortec V6 were transferred last year to the new Vortec V8 engines.
GM Powertrain engineers have adapted the Vortec 4300 V6 to the changing needs of the Nineties by listening carefully to Chevrolet customers. In its current configuration as an SFI engine, this eager V6 -- as with other Vortec engines -- relies on advanced technology to achieve outstanding performance levels.
The Vortec 5000 (L30) and 5700 (L31) truck engines give C/K Pickup owners more of what they want: more horsepower and torque, and longer intervals between recommended service. Here are their credentials:Vortec 5000
The Vortec V8s are examples of the Chevrolet commitment to continuously improve its products. The application of advanced technology and innovative ideas has made this proven small block V8 a standout performer in the highly competitive truck market.
