Today, Fatty McGee was brought in to the veterinary hospital to get a bath. Now, unless you own a long-haired cat, you probably have no idea what an affair a bath can turn into. Despite the fact that Fatty is a very calm, good-natured cat, it was still a long, complicated process to bathe poor Fatty.

8:00 am: Arrival at the Vet. Hospital

Fatty McGee arrives at the hospital, and is set up comfortably in a cage, with plenty of towels and blankets. However, since Fatty is so well behaved, he is allowed to roam around the back of the hospital. He knows something is up, so he proceeds to do his best to hide.

11:00 am: Where's Fatty?

Oh no! We can't find Fatty! Where could he be? We checked the book shelves, behind the stacks of food, even behind the computer? He wasn't even in his favorite spot, the shoe bin. Where could Fatty have gone? Whew, we found him! He was hidden behind one of the trash cans...

12:00 pm: Time for a Teeth Cleaning

Before the bath, Fatty needs a good teeth brushing. It takes one person to hold him while the other brushes his teeth. Fatty isn't too happy with the taste of the toothpaste, or the brush, but he does very well.

12:20 pm: Bath Time!

Fatty finally gets his bath! He looks much smaller once he is all wet. Fatty is very well behaved during his bath, but every couple of minutes he tries (unsuccessfully) to make a run for it.

12:45 pm: Grooming Part 1

Now this is where things get complicated. Fatty was very tolerant during his bath, but the comb is too much. He growls, and even hisses a few times. He directs his face directly at certain people, to make it perfectly clear exactly who he is hissing at. It takes a while to pat him down with the towel, and comb his knotted hair--all the while trying to dry him with the blow dryer. Fatty is not happy. After combing him through, we place Fatty inside his cage, with the larger dryer running to finish drying him off. He is still very wet.

1:30 pm: Grooming Part 2

Now Fatty is finally mostly dry, and it's time to groom him again. He, again, shows his displeasure by growling and the occasional hiss, but we manage to get him combed, and clean out his ears for good measure. Now Fatty can nap peacefully in his cage, hidden under a towel.
