Tim Gerst was born December 16th, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio. A self-taught painter, Tim paints bold strokes with a reckless abandon and little regard for convention or realism, combining a northern rust belt flavor with a south Floridians wave of vivid color.

The streets of West Palm Beach where he lives and works provide both inspiration and actual raw material for is provocative images. Tim uses reclaimed materials such as canvas, cardboard, paper bags, scrap plywood and paper to tell his story, painting what the streets have to offer to his fertile mind. Tim's style reflects a distinctly abstract and modern influence. His art expresses an alternative view of reality-one with few borders or limitations.
Tim moved to Florida in 1986, continuing his search for greater contrasts of life. He is an active member of the AOA Alternative Online Artist and his paintings are included in numerous private and public collections throughout the world.
If you meet Tim Gerst in the streets of a South Florida city watch out! By his own admission, you may end up a subject of one of his paintings!

"When I first started painting, I knew what I was doing, and what I was capable of doing was certainly not fine art but I didn't know what to call it.  I am basically what is considered in the art world an outsider artist, self-taught and painting the only way I know how. Not following any school of style or technique. My artwork is pure, intuitive and raw. Being self-taught I believe is a process of expressing one's self finding inspiration and knowledge to create from within"......
