11.5 Manipulation and/or processing

Specification Content/Learning Outcomes

Manipulation and/or processing looks at the different methods in which data can be processed. Be careful with this topic as some of the terms used mean different things to different people!
  • Describe the different modes of operation; batch, interactive, transaction, real-time and identify appropriate contexts for their use.

  • Describe the characteristics of processing data in the form of text, pictures, numbers and sound.
