CHUCK:  Miki died in the eighties.  As painful as it might be to describe, what were the circumstances behind his untimely death?

PAUL:  MIKI WAS STILL A SPEED AND COKE USER.  HIS HEALTH STARTED TO FAIL MID ’86, AND HE WOULD GET A LITTLE BETTER, AND SICKER ON AND OFF.  BY THE END OF ’86, MALE STRIPPER WAS THE #1 DANCE RECORD IN THE UK.  AFTER RETURNING TO NY FROM LONDON ON DECEMBER 20, 1986, MIKI WAS HOSPITALIZED.  ON DEC 31, MIKI DIED IN THE HOSPITAL.  HAPPY NEW YEAR.

CHUCK:  You and Man Parrish did a great performance on the European TV show, Top of the Pops.  This is remarkable, so soon after tragedy.  How did this feel?

PAUL:  TO ME, ALL THAT HAPPENED, UP UNTIL MIKI DIED, WAS THE END OF OUR VISION, EVEN THOUGH THE NAME CHANGED A FEW TIMES.  TO US, IT WAS THE SAME NO MATTER WHAT WE WERE CALLED.  THAT’S WHY MAN 2 MAN, TO US, WAS A CONTINUATION OF POPISM IN A SENSE.  I FEEL IT ENDED WITH THE TOP OF THE POPS PERFORMANCE, EVEN THOUGH MIKI WASN’T THERE.  WE WORKED ALL OF OUR LIVES TO BECOME BRITISH POP STARS.  THAT’S WHAT WE WANTED SINCE WE WERE YOUNG.  WHEN MALE STRIPPER WENT INTO THE UK POP CHARTS 2 MONTHS AFTER MIKI’S DEATH, IT WAS JUST A WAY THAT HE MUST HAVE HAD THE POWER TO HELP IT ALONG, AND GIVE US WHAT WE WANTED, EVEN THOUGH HE COULDN’T BE THERE IN THE FLESH.

CHUCK:  I’m glad the victory was not hollow to you.

PAUL:  I TOURED THAT YEAR WITH 2 BACKUP DANCERS ALL OVER EUROPE, AND CONTINUED TO LIVE IN EUROPE UNTIL 1990.

CHUCK:  Any fan of pop music who has heard the brilliance of The Fast will hang their head in silence, and respect for a gifted man, blessed in musical talent as well as an unforgettable stage prescence.

PAUL:  DEBBIE HARRY RECORDED COMIC BOOKS, AN OLD FAST SONG, FOR HER LP, DEF DUMB AND BLONDE, AS A TRIBUTE TO MIKI.  DEB AND CHRIS LOVED MIKI.

CHUCK:  I was shocked to find out Armand has passed away as well.  Describe the remainer of his musical career.  When and why did he pass away?  The death of two siblings must have been unbearable.

PAUL:  ARMAND ZONE DIED FROM AIDS, IN 1996.  AFTER THE ZONE BROS. PROJECT IN 1989, ARMAND CONTINUED WITH MUSIC.  HE WAS ALWAYS WRITING SONGS AND RECORDING IN HIS HOME STUDIO IN BROOKLYN, AND LIVING A QUIET LIFE UNTIL THE END.

CHUCK:  You can be assured that both of your brothers live on, in the mind of this new fan.  Thank you for a great interview, and all the great photos.
