OVERVIEW   The Capri280 Register was set up in August 1994. Its idea being to trace all remaining 280s from the original 1038 that were all built in the last two weeks of December 1986, this marked the end of Capri Production.

  THE FACTS   There was only 1038 Capri280s built, it is believed that possibly only 500 still remain to date .

  BUILD NUMBERS   Unlike, the Tickford Capri, the 280 does not display a build number, this has to be calculated, from its " GG"..... chassis number, basically subtract 10858 from the GG number. The chassis number can be found either under the carpet at the side of the drivers seat near the inner sill or on the vin. plate under the bonnet 

    OBJECTIVE   This is to collate all remaining Capri280 to prove/dis-prove the 500 remaining figure.  

SPIN-OFF   The Media have approached the "Register" for Cars for TV., and for Newspaper and Magazine articles. The most recent "addition" is "dedicated" 280 meetings, the first was held at CCI HQ. in addition to the meeting at Manchester Capri Club's  yearly  Blackpool Cavalcade. There was recently a Meeting held in May 2005 to Mark 18 years since the end of Capri production, the next meeting is proposed for 2007 to Mark 21 years. 

1056   What is 1056?, a commonly asked question. It is not the Build Number, as though, but the type number for the 280.
