Capri280 Meeting |
ford capri......the car you always promised yourself....
Capesthorne
Hall, Macclesfield, Sunday May 25th 2005, at the Andrew Greenwood
Classic Vehicle Show was the venue for the capri280 Registers Meeting to mark 18
years to December 2004 after the last 1038 capris were built in a 2-week period
at the end of December 1986.
What
a day, the weather was scorching and the Show itself was full , as well as
other Ford Capris, Jaguars, XRs and other Brands, many other private entry cars to name just a
few.
The
Register had a good location in the Show Ground, on the top of the field, just
as you drove into the ground, ideal to be seen by all Classic Cars entering the
grounds.
The
day was a relaxed event, with owners, creating their own “space” within the
area that had been allotted to the event.
40
280s turned up to the meeting, with 36 on the group meet and the other 4 on neighboring
Branch Stands.
Most of the 280s had come a fair distance to the event with only a few being “Local” the nearest being from nearby Macclesfield, others had traveled as far as from Falkirk, Edinburgh, Northern Island, London and other places a lot further down South.
Ford were invited to be involved the event, but could not make it, however they did send us a well respected book to raffle,

A bit of history file...........
This Event follows on from the original capri280 meetings that were held way back in the mid-1990s, in Blackpool and lately in 1999, to bring together the final edition capri
Some Owners go for a personal touch.......................
So as we continue our walkabout (walkabout..?? is that not a Club in Manchester? lol)......
"never again might we see as many capris of the same type together again........"

Chromed Engine Bays...
As 4.00 was starting to approach very quickly on what had been a really good day, it was time to take the 280s into the Arena
Entering.............
Inside the Arena
The Arena was really a site to be seen 3 circles of 280s , 31 in total , is just a pity that a white 2.8 injection , displaying a For Sale sign felt fit to join us.
And Finally....We Won the Trophy for Club Winner
It now just remains to thank all capri280 Owners who turned up and supported this event, we all hope you enjoyed the day , the feed back we received seems to show this was the case.
Sadly Ford Magazine could not attend , and we also found out the person who was expected to film the event had also dropped out at the last minute.
We would hope in the future to maybe run this meeting again , possibly in 2007 , when the capri280 will be 21 years since the production ended in December 1986
