In a good matchup it was the Anaheim Angels 6, the Boston Red Sox 4 in 11
innings at Edison Int'l Field.
The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Anaheim ended up
winning it in the 11th inning. John Jaha opened up the inning nicely when he
was hit by a pitch. Jim Thome stepped up to the plate and he bombed a
two-run dinger (his 1st of the season). The Boston batters went down meekly
in the bottom of the 11th.
Troy Percival(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Bobby Chouinard(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 2
innings and surrendered 1 hit and no walks.
