I have done very little to the 340 in the car. Its one of those that just runs to good to mess with. The block is a 72 casting 340. I have no clue whats inside the thing. The cam is probabbly alittle bigger then stock and starts to pull hard around 2500rpms. The motor was topped off with a Eddy 600cfm carb and an old LD340 intake when I bought it. I stuck a HVH super sucker 1" spacer between the 2 and notice a good gain in torque. I never check the head casting numbers but they are later 360 heads with the smog ports in them. I replaced the vacume advance dist with an old dirrect connection tach drive dist. added a MSD 6AL box and a set of unknow headers to it. I also swapped in a set of new Crane valve springs and a new roller timing chain. Thats all I've touched.

After the suspension is done I'll start making changes. The planned combo is

340
4" stroker crank
Flat top pistons zero decked
H beam rods
balance bottom end.

Edelbrock performer RPM heads ported
Custom solid cam 250 int. 260 exh. .580-.600 lift
roller rocker
M-1 single plane  950 Hp carb
or
STR-12 with 2 Edelbrock 600
