The SLK32 AMG combines traditional Mercedes luxury with the brute strength of a 349 horsepower supercharged V6 . Built on the SLK320 Platform, the SLK32 AMG is a solid-handling sports car.
      Packing as much horsepower as a C-5 Corvette's 5.7 liter V-8, the SLK32's Supercharged V6 is fed by a helical-type supercharger, which maximizes low-end torque. With a Single Overhead Cam, 3 valves per cylinder, and a liquid-to-air intercooler, the SLK32's AMG built V-8 makes 349 horsepower at 6100 rpm and 342 ft-lbs of torque at 4400 rpm. This engine is mated to AMG's SPEEDSHIFT 5-speed automatic transmission, which allows manual overrides by waggling the shift lever slightly to the left or right.
     When compared to the other cars in the C class, the SLK32 AMG doesn't seem like a fair comparison. Packing over 100 more horsepower than all of the other cars, the SLK32 seems like an easy win. Well, it does until you consider its curb weight, which is almost 3,300 pounds. That said, the SLK 32 AMG loses almost all of its advantages over other cars such as the Lotus Elise(>1900lb curb weight). 0-60 comes in at 4.8 seconds, 0.1 seconds behind the Elise. Bur for roughly the same price as an Elise, the SLK32 AMG gives you a supercharged V-6, legenday luxury Mercedes interior, and a very slick power-operated hardtop.
