| Rear Coil-Overs: A how to Guide! | |||||||||
| For the past few months I've seen someone selling Honda coil-overs on ebay as Fiero rear coil overs and make over $100 on each auction. The parts he is selling is half of a $30 kit. I'm tired of watching people get screwed over so I figured I would post up instructions on how to make your own rear coil overs for $120 and do it right. First thing you need is the threaded sleeves and perches. You can get them from Coleman Racing. Get the 7" coil over sleeves. This comes with the perches and all. www.colemanracing.com $30 each. Next you need coil-over springs. I purchased mine from Summit racing. They are from QA1. They are 10" springs, 2.5" ID and 350lb/in rate. They were $35 each. www.summitracing.com Next you take your rear struts off of your car. You need to cut the factory spring perch off of the strut. Be careful not to puncutre or overheat the strut when doing this. After your finished paint the strut so it does not rust. After the perch is removed and the strut is painted you're ready to install the threaded sleeve and perch onto the strut. Slide it all the way down the strut. After thats installed slide your spring on. Reassemble the top of the strut and reinstall the strut on the vehicle. Next you want to adjust your car to the proper ride height. The best part of the 10" spring is you can have the car at factory ride height and get about 4" or so lower. I recomend useing lowering springs or drop spindles for the front of your car. |
