Shopaholism...
It may sound crazy, but some
psychiatrists think that shopaholism is actually a disease.
About 90 years ago the German psychologist, Emil Kraepelin
defined excessive shopping as an illness, calling it oniomania.
Only recently has this disorder begun to be understood. From
Manhattan to Lahore the epidemic is spreading fast, and often
the victims are right under your nose, as I found when starting
to research this article. I don’t like shopping but I have
friends who do. Sara, especially. Even if she were living in
California, Sara wouldn’t think twice about buying a little
tanning time. Another, Zainab returns from every shopping spree
with a fur lined coat in her hands – ask her when she thinks
Lahore is going to be cold enough to wear even one of them, she
shrugs. “You never know when you might need one of these,” she
replies....
Personal Style....
The way you dress, the
jewelry you love, the perfect haircut -- all help create
confidence, command respect and turn heads. Just ask these eight
style-savvy women. Shelly Bomb, 36, costume designer and a
creative director for Anti-gravity, a performance group. What
does your look say about you? That I love change. My hair, for
instance, has been pink, purple and highlighted. Right now it's
auburn, which looks distinctive and flatters my pale skin. And
I'm always changing the clothes I buy -- like cropping pants and
tops, or adding a fancy zipper or accessory to make it
different...

Nadya Mistry
It’s the Mughals meet Moulin Rouge. It’s
the Matrix meets Dominatrix. It’s Ming meets baroque. It’s
gothic and garish. It’s flirty, foxy, funky, and functional.
It’s Nadya Mistry at her best. The sassiest designer on the
local fashion circuit, Nadya defies classification. When sequins
and glassy beads are perfectly aligned to bring peacocks,
butterflies, elephants, and dragons to life – that’s when you
know Nadya had a hand in it. When each outfit offers a bazaar of
kaleidoscopic colours ranging from vulgar oranges to thrilling
pinks – that’s when the party’s getting started. And when a
layered leather gharara.....
Dressing Sexy....
Did you ever wonder why you never find
yourself dressed like one of the girls who you see hanging out
at the MTV beach house? Chances are that if you plucked one of
those string bikini babes and placed her in your average 7-11,
she'd get called a tramp before she had a chance to pay for her
Slurpee. How do you work the sexier garments into your daily
routine without feeling like you belong on a reality TV show?
Use these tips to incorporate hot clothes into your wardrobe for
any occasion -- without looking like your boss is a pimp!
Romantic Make
up...
Play down dark circles. Begin with concealer.
Pat a tiny bit around dark circles and use your finger to gently
blend. Forget full-face makeup. From far away, skin covered in
foundation looks even and flawless. But up close, it just looks
like skin covered in makeup -- very unromantic. Forgo base
tonight and apply a dusting of translucent powder instead. Think
sparkle for eyes. Matte shadows are great for day, but come a
romantic evening, you need more oomph. That's where a shimmery
shadow comes in. Apply a cream, lemon, pink, or peach shimmer
shadow from lashlines to browbones. Go light on liner. Unless
you're craving a super-smoky eye, skip the kohl and try a
cleaner look: A thin line of dark brown or charcoal liner along
top and bottom lashes. Use a stiff liner brush to apply powder
shadow as liner....

Summers are here. So eat lots of citrus
and juicy fruits and don't throw the peels away. Sun dry the
peels of lemon, orange and sweet lime. Dust them clean and grind
to a fine powder. Add dust of sandalwood and multani mitti. Take
a tablespoon of this combination and make a paste of it in rose
water or Kewra water. Your rejuvenating, "freshfeel" face pack
is ready. Apply every alternate day for a gorgeous looking,
smooth skin !!
Potato is the best bleach for your
face. Rub it and wash it off after 10min.
For fair skin wash your face as many
times as you can and apply sandalwood powder on your face at
night. Leave it on for entire night. In days to come see your
face turn fair.
To make a good scrub, get black channa
with peals, turmuric and methi seeds. Grind these together. Use
it as a scrub and get a clean skin.
So you want to beat the heat this
summer? Massage pure honey on your face and neck with outward
and upward movements with a little water. Keep it on for 5
minutes and then first, wash it off with milk, followed by plain
water.
To enhance the shine and texture of
your skin, cut a tomato in half and rub it gently on your face.
When you feel that there is no juice left, cut the top slice and
rub it gently. This helps the skin get refreshed. The pulp of
tomato also acts as scrub and cleans the skin. After the juice
dries up, wash your face with cold water and see the difference. |
