Ali: What's your full name?
Edita: Edita Glodenyte

A: Where were you born?
E: Klaipeda, Lithuania

A: How did you become interested in fashion?
E: I liked creating something interesting for myself at the school age... During my studies I had some time to do something interesting- and gained some knowledge of crocheting and knitting...

A: Have you always wanted this career? What made you realize it?
E: I dreampt about designing all the time... But I would not enter the Arts Academy in Lithuania at design...
So I have chosen another area...
I am graduating from the Institute of Graphic Arts as engineer technologist of printing.

A: What type of schooling did you go through to get you where you are today? What school did you attend, what did you major in and what classes did you take, how long did you attend, and did you earn any type of degree while you were there?
E: At my studies I got some knowledge about colours, about designing in general... But thats it...

A: Where do you live now? Does your location benefit your job?
E: I live in Lithuania, and here we have a lot of possibilities to create. First thing- if you have enough money for living, so that you could create something. After my daughter appeared, I had to sit at home for some time. So I decided to try designing and making those crocheted and knitted items myself...

A; What is your job exactly? Explain your duties.
E: At the moment I am director and designer in our own company with my bf... so I am doing some general tasks as director as looking for market as well as thinking what else I could prepare so that we could get some small orders for women, who work for me.

A: What is a typical day on the job like?
E: Morning- checking emails and possibly answering them.
Later- looking through newspapers and magazines...
Later- some drawing and working...
At least 2 times per week from lunch time- meeting with local craftswomen and sharing ideas with them, and giving some tasks for them if they want to do them :)

A: What are working conditions like? Are there any hazards or physical demands?
E: Not too bad, as I could spend most time at home.

A: What mental characteristics are needed for your job?
E: Hard to answer.

A: What is your favorite thing about your job?
E: I am quite creative, and when I manage something interesting to do - I feel really well.

A: What is your least favorite thing about your job?
E: A lot of time spent to finish one project, it doing myself... and not always result achieved, which I waited.

A: What part time jobs/classes are there that can help gain experience in your career?
E: I took several classes this year, which are available in our region- helping leaders of companies make business.

A: How many hours do you work per week?
E: 50-60.

A: What's your salary?
E: Still not have fixed salary, as just started my own business, and it means that at the moment we have mostly expenses...:)

A: If you could go back, would you choose this as your career again?
E: I would start such activity maybe 5-10 years ago. When I was younger and maybe still had the possibility to study some design.

A: And finally, do you have any advice for me on how to become a fashion designer?
E: WORK WORK + WORK and TALENT required...
And some skills to make projects yourself also. If you have not enough knowledge to create project yourself, you would not manage to ask from others to do what you want...
