I get this allot from people who see me going through the hassle I voluntarily go through every year with my 1 acre size garden when its planting or harvesting season.
They cant understand why I go through with this when a bag of potatoes can be purchased for 75 cents a pound or a cantelope for $2.00 a head.
Well probably the first reason is because I really enjoy it yes I know it sounds strange that someone could get enjoyment even when they are working hard at something but I guess its part of mankinds inner nature to get some form of satisfaction from getting something that they had a hand in coming into being and that they have control over being able to get more of that or in otherwords they don't like the idea that the people at the local Super Center are in no way obligated to feed them and that if they suddenly decided to stop stocking the shelves with food that they would be left starving.
Q:Do you think that there is some form of imminent Apocalypse coming?
A: No I don't but I like to have the attitude of Hope for the Best but Prepare for the Worst.
I believe that its loony for someone to make a bomb shelter just for the sake of having a bomb shelter especially since its highly unlikely that it will ever be put to use however if that same person made that bomb shelter so they could use it as a storage bin for his potato garden and used it to store seeds then he has something entirely different because now he has something that he can use whether a nuclear bomb falls on it or not and since its qualified to take a nuclear distaster then any tornado will have a hard time destroying it remember Hope for the Best but Plan for the Worst.
Q:I live in the City in a Apartment so what good does any of this do me?
A: Growing a few plants on your own is a very educational experience even if all that milk carton can pump out is a few radish a month having a knowledge of plants could help you in ways you didn't expect for instance it may help you get a job at your local Wal-Mart Garden Center.
