This is the parking and safe-zone. This area is for gear-up and resupply. This will also be the area where most of the mission breifings will take place.
Back to the mapThe first phase of the invasion. The allied side will represent the Pathfinders that were droped in before the main Airborne and marine invasion. Their job wil be to nagotiate their way thru the forest and into the open clearing and then to place a radio transmitter in the feild to show the way to the rest of the Airborne units.
The paratrooper rules will be used for this round. The Allies have one hour to get one of two radio transmitters to the landing Zone. If the Axis hold off the Allies long enough, Eliminate all Allied units, or Capture both Transmitters then the Pathfinders mission will be a failure
************The Allied side will represent the British 6th airborne division that primarily used gliders too drop into Normandy. their job was to secure the Orne river bridge. This is one of the few bridges that can be used to transport heavy armor over the river. With this bridge in allied hands the inland movement will be swift an coordinated. Should the allies fail to hold out, The germans will either demolish the bridge or use it to counter attack the beach landing zones.
The Allies must capture and hold the Bridge. There are three demolitions set on the bridge represented by small flags. The Allies must remove these flags in order to declare the bridge secured. Once it is secure they must hold it for 30 minutes or until reinforcements arrive against a German counter attack. If the bridge is not secured and held after 1 hour 30 minutes the bridge will be demolished by the germans resulting in an Allied defeat.
****************There is a small artillery position outside of brecourt manor. There are between 3 and 4 88mm Artillery guns that are currently firing on the beach landing zones. should these guns remain active the casualties will be catastrophic at might sway the result of the landings. the 101st Airborne 506 PIR's easy and dog companies will be sent in to assualt the guns.
The Allies must destroy the guns at all costs. no time limit set. In order for the Allies to win they must destroy all four guns. The Axis must eliminate all Paratroopers and protect the guns inorder to maintain victory.
*****************These five landing points are the beginning or the end for either the Allied cause or the german ocupation. every possible resouce has been pooled for the Allied expeditionary forces. American, French, British, and Canadian men and materials will pour into this relitively small section of land. courage and training alone will bring victory.
The German command center is at the top of the hill. Once it is taken down no more German reinforcements can be deployed. After that eliminating the rest of the Beach Defenders will make the beach secured.
