Joel, I think you're entitled to ramble all you want....hope Belle's kept something down

today....have you ever seen the commercial where the Irish Setter follows the girl up

some stairs as a pup (& has trouble doing so) & then the pictures progress through the

years until the final one shows the gray-muzzled setter, slowly making her way up those

stairs?  That commercial says it all, doesn't it?

You & your family have been so very good to Belle...I know this is rough.....we're thinking

about you all!

Since noon today she has thrown up three times and developed
diarreha. Not good. Special diets are out the window now. Our
only concern is getting something of value in her. Fortunately she
is still doing well with getting water. The pattern I am going try
the next few days, hopefully, will help. Mornings have always been
bad for her, even before the tumor. I'm sure this just makes it
worse. So I'll try water mornings, afternoons and get food in the
evenings after the daily meds have all kicked in full strength.

We get blood drawn tomorrow for a screen and then we wait for the
results.

It's terrible. I don't want her to suffer, but I don't want her to
go. I wish it was over, but I don't want her to go.

Rambling again.

The meds must have kicked in. I got some food in her and she's
resting comfortably in the next room. I can hear beagle-snores.
I'm going to miss that sound. When she's in really good form, you
can actually sit downstairs while she's sleeping upstairs and hear
her through the floor! And the wife says I'm bad!

Joel -

I'm sorry that things aren't going well for Belle.  I know exactly what you mean when you say you don't want her to suffer, but you don't want her to go.  And that you wish it was over, but you don't want her to go.  Those words bring back so many memories for me because I felt the same way.  This is a very hard time for you, I know.  Hang in there.

We started the Pepcid AC Tuesday. That's been kind of hit and miss
because a couple of times I gave her the pill and shortly there
after, she threw up. So I wasn't sure if she still had it or not.
She's been snubbing the chicken and rice lately but I will definately
try the baby food. I remember seeing it before but forgot. Thanks
for jogging my memory. I'm pretty sure she'll go for that.

She went into the vet today. While she was there for a blood sample
for a full screen, the vet said she looked dehydrated, so she (the
vet) gave her some fluids sub-cutaneously. I was a little surprised
because she has been doing well with her water. I guess it has been
going right through her, when it stays down.

Thanks again for the suggestions. This group has been great.

re belle, y might also give her pedialite inst of water to replace electrolytes lost thru vomiting and other end.  as to baby food, get the ones that do not have vegs...gerber lamb and lamb broth, beef and beef broth....veal, ham, chicken, turkey.  smear a fingerful on her gum and inner lip--that jumpstarts zani and she now eats one per brkfstbtw, the subq water doesn't last long.

best of luck to belle beagle,

gisella/zani
