| There's always
a story behind a person's art. A lot of mine was created back in my high
school years through some very difficult times. When I look back on those
times I've no idea how I coped but I remember always finding some
comfort and solace in creating art, crochet, sculpture or any thing creative.
I also found my music to be the most passionate at these times. I was involved
in a special interest music program in my early high-school years, played
the oboe and won an eisteddfod in the wood-wind section before having my
oboe taken from me. It's a long sad story like many others but one day
I hope to be able to afford to buy a rosewood oboe with keys shaped specially
for my own individual fingers. I also play the piano (rather substandardly)
as this was my compulsory second instrument that I had to learn at school.
I sometimes feel a little remorseful watching my old school friends touring
around the world with orchestras but at the same time it gave me an opportunity
to explore other interests and focus on my schooling a little more!
Mum stressed
constantly that I was set for art school upon finishing year 12 but I followed
in the footsteps of so many family members before me and undertook a Science
degree. I still have a passion for Science and enjoy Scientific writing
and would love to obtain a job in health promotion or policy writing. However,
art, poetry & creative writing will always play a significant partin
my life.
I find myself
craving creativity when constrained by excessive amounts of unrelated work.
Yet I haven't been able to draw for long hours for a while now -- due to
a shoulder injury. I do have a number of half completed pieces that will
get some attentions hortly and hopefully be posted here in the near future.
I have a half finished novel on my hard-drive that is just waiting for
some long hours of work. It's called the "Girl Next Door" and incorporates
multiple themes that are dear to my heart. I think it is going to be very
special.
You'll note
that I personally enjoy drawing and painting people, as expressions are
of most interest to me. I've spent my whole life pondering over what people
are thinking on a minute to minute basis. I find women's expressions the
most diverse and fascinating, and often the most revealing of secrets or
pain. I set myself a goal last year of having one poem published within
six months and have since had one of my poems "Parting& Departing"
published in an anthology entitled "True Reflections". I think I've written
close to 40 poems since 1999 -- I find it a very therapeutic past-time.
You've probably
gathered that I like playing around with tacky web-pages. I became inspired
after the now Vice-president of the ME/CFS Society taught himself web-design.
Of course his pages are a lot more professional than mine! He now runs
his own business but spends more time helping out with the Society (as
the generous soul that he is). I decided that I'd learn basic html and
now that I've done that I'm still eagerly awaiting having enough time to
teach myself Java Script. My nature is to not let any thing get the better
of me and unfortunately, sometimes that can be to my detriment as I push
myself too hard too often! |
