Later, the Excelsior helped the Enterprise destroy a rogue Klingon Bird of Prey at Khitomer. (TUC, TOS SAYR Timeline, SCIII Manual) Ensign Tuvok was assigned to the USS Excelsior. During the Praxis Crisis, the Excelsior tried to rescue Capt Kirk and Dr McCoy, but was turned back by a Klingon battle cruiser at the Azure Nebula. The Excelsior and the Saratoga were in orbit to help protect the planet until the Yorktown took over. The Excelsior got caught into the vortex and the Excelsior�s crewmembers went into the Mirror Universe and their counterparts came to the Excelsior. The Excelsior crew was able to get back to the normal universe. (SU: Mirror, Mirror) The Excelsior was patrolling near the Beta Prometheus System, when the Sundew sent out a distress call. The Excelsior responded and the crew of the Sundew kidnapped Capt Sulu and nine other officers. The Excelsior stayed in the area, but later went to Starbase 499, which was the primary destination, until the distress call. The Excelsior rescued four officers from the Sundew, later on. The Excelsior was part of the force sent by Starfleet to help the Plush Princess. (TOSN The Fearful Summons)The Excelsior was patrolling near the Beta Prometheus System, when the Sundew sent out a distress call. The Excelsior responded and the crew of the Sundew kidnapped Capt Sulu and nine other officers. The Excelsior stayed in the area, but later went to Starbase 499, which was the primary destination, until the distress call. The Excelsior rescued four officers from the Sundew, later on. The Excelsior went to Earth for the funeral of Demora Sulu. The Excelsior went to Starbase 9. The Excelsior was ordered to Centralis for a mission, instead the Excelsior went to Askalon V. The Excelsior met with the USS Enterprise to pick up Ambassador Burgess. The Excelsior went to the 15 Lycanis System to met with the Jeb�v Tholis about peace negotiations. The Excelsior sent probes into Tholian space, but was discovered by the Tholians. The Excelsior disguised their warp signature and stopped a Neyel attack on a Tholian military colony. The Excelsior and the Neyel vessel, Oghen�s Flame, battled until the Tholians came and ensnared both vessels in a Tholian web. The Excelsior and the Oghen�s Flame were able to escape to the rift and the Excelsior visited the Neyel home planet. The Excelsior came back and Ambassador Burgess was able to negotiate a cease-fire between the Neyel and the Tholians. (TLE, The Sundered, TTN Taking Wing, TTN The Red King)
