Announcements and Ship News
The autumn month of
September brought the Fleet a few changes along with the changing leaves in the
northern hemisphere of our beloved planet. First,
I must apologize for the delay in the Newsletter being
published later than usual.
Far Point Fleet gladly
accepts a newly commissioned ship. It is the USS
Ranger and will be Captained by Lt. Colonel Kyle Lamorak, currently XO of the
Horatio Nelson. The vote has been ratified and
the Defiant Class vessel will hold a compliment of 40. Bryan,
aka Kyle “Havoc” Lamorak has been busy amassing an anxious crew and they are
ready to begin their journeys. May all sail
safely with you. Welcome Ranger to Far Point Fleet.
This brings me to the
next change. Although this did actually happen
in October, I thought I’d give you the news now. Captain
On a happier note, the
Excalibur has received several posts from former Captain Ryan Storm. We are anxiously waiting to see what he wants to do
now for the Fleet. Welcome back, Steve.
A reminder; any
suggestions to improve this Newsletter would be gratefully accepted. I’ll include other points of interest in the
Editor’s Note at the end of this column.

The Away Team weathered the strange
Ion Storm on the planet well
enough with no injuries. Indeed it could be said they thrived as the
cleared the away
team returned to the ship and the survey mission
continued as
planned. The child did well over the remainder
of the
trip.
Upon the ship's
return both Capt Andrews and Dr Jantika are summed to
the Admiral's
office. While
dressing down for
ejecting the intelligence officers off the
Excalibur, he is
puzzled by the request for Dr. Jantika. What is
in store for the two Officers?
In addition, a back
story of Capt Ryan Storm's return home is in
development.He has
caught up with the ship that was to take him back
to the Klingon
Homeworld, but it was not who he expected. HE is
informed that an
unnknown danger threatens his father and could
threaten the Empire
as well. What could it be?

The U.S.S. Washington is
transporting the Bajoran Orb
of the Inevitable, along with the two individuals
charged with caring for it until it arrives on Bajor.
However, unknown vessels using a type of (somewhat
imperfect) cloaking devive insist upon attacking the
known only to them. At the same time, the Orb is
extending a strange influence on the Chief Tactical
Officer, causing him to wander about the ship in a
trance-like state.
*Promotions*
Ensign Beren Rei - to Chief Intel Officer.
Congratulations, Ensign!
*Rookie of the Month:*
Ensign Troy Hawkins, our new Chief Conn Officer, who
looks to be bringing a very interesting character to
the
*Most Improved*:
Dr. Toni Ann Cattivo, whose posting for September was
twice her posting numbers for July and August
*combined*! Plus, she's come up with creative
ways of
making sure the CO and XO know that she is *not*
amused over all the recent red alerts on board. ;-)
Way to go, Doc!
Note - Lt. Cmdr. Thora Samuels, Chief Security
Officer, would also be mentioned for Most Improved,
except she's posting all the time already, a detail
very much appreciated by myself and Kaye!

After the successfull
completion of our last mission, and exposing
rogue elements in the federation, the
some well earned R&R.
Recently dispatched to explore the space near SB25 we've discovered an
abandoned space station, or so we thought, but aliens are loose on the
station, and cardassian(!!!) warships in the area!

*Horatio Nelson
On a routine jaunt into to far
reaches of SB 25's territory, the HN
picked up what
seemed to be a distress call on long-range sensors.
Using the
Astrometrics, they were able to narrow down the location
and changed course
to investigate. While in route, they came across
a smaller version
of the Crystalline Entity (Junior, perhaps?) and
had to deal with
that. Luckily, they were able to evade rather
than
confront the Entity
who seemed very wary of having a Federation
vessel so close.
Upon arrival they found a freighter named
the
"Vorvon" and discovered that the ship appeared to be a derelict,
but then detected
one faint life-sign aboard. Security beamed
aboard to
investigate and was met by what one could only describe as
Zombies. During the battle, they managed to rescue a small
girl
names Marie Sileste
and bring her aboard the HN. Once aboard, and
unbeknownst to the
crew a creature, best described as a non-
corporeal vampire,
escaped from little Marie and is now on board
attacking the crew
of the HN. They also seem to have picked-up what
they think is a
vengeful spirit who is hunting the vampire
creature. The journey continues…Great Halloween fare!

Editor’s Note/Opinion:
This is my chance to
announce, spout and basically get stuff off my chest as I have the final word
here….lol. I can be tactful!
My random thoughts for why the same people get nominated every month….a
Star Fleet Officer ‘signs’ their posts with their name, rank and ship. No one knows you if you don’t add that, sillies! Also, not knowing the post number?!
Come on. You belong to a group and you go
there to look up the last one. I think that is a
very simple thing to do. A title to your post is
also quite nice. It helps in remembering the
post. Just my corner to spout out useful information….
I’m SO betting that none of you get this far and even
reply….lmao.

Luck,
