Fleet Announcements & News
For May, the Fleet had 222 valid posts.
The award voting system has been revolutionized thanks
to AJ. It is now fair, and records are kept detailing how many
people voted, and who did it. So if there are any further questions
on the matter of awards, information is available on request.
Secondly, Roger has been constructing part of a timeline
for us, to add to Far Point Fleet canon.

U.S.S. Horatio Nelson-A Section
The HN began May on SB25. There was a wedding to
take place and a naming ceremony for a new addition to a crewmember's
family. The HN was receiving two new transfers as well. Only one
got aboard before the HN was zoomed into 16 years in the future. The
future Nelson found a Federation with a government of Anti-Feds in
control. We happened to run across the USS Stalingrad, which was never
decommissioned in this timeline. The HN was asked to help in
restoring order in the past, but also having to return to 2383,
although exactly where it will place them is still murky.
The HN also had to find the piece of the puzzle that would stop this
future from happening. They continue working their way back to 2383.

U.S.S.
When we last left off, the
new captain and is now escorting a colony ship to a
fresh virgin world. Typically though the
received a distress call, but found it a decoy, it is
at this moment rushing back to the Colonists ship
which is under attack!
After rushing back to the Colonist's ship, the
defensless
disabled, a strange probe that was able to blind
several members of the crew, including Ensign Cole.
The probe was promptly disabled. M. Capt Slaine went
over Capt Desai's head and had the Taviston ship
destroyed, causing him to be confined to Quarters.
After rescueing several of the Taviston hedgemen, the
two ships continued on there way to the Colonist's new
home. Now they have found that the one thought
uninhabited world has indead been a base camp for the
Taviston's, and a secret defence center that set up
in the near by astroid belt. Will the crew of the
about the crew sent to the asteroid belt? Tune in
again next month... Same bat time, Same bat place.

U.S.S. Excalibur Section
While on a routine run to deliver medical supplies to a
non-Federation world the Excalibur began experiencing multiple system
failures. Eventually it gets to the point that the crew realizes there is
a
major problem. A message was sent to SB25 and a scan was commenced to see if
some salvage parts were nearby. A ship was discovered but it still had a
crew onboard. The alien crew had already unlocked part of the
mystery.
There were many types of fields not normally visible to sensors where caused
certain materials to decay, breaking down to subatomic particles. Ens
Maryok determined that there was a pattren that establied a series of
experiments in the development of a device, possibility a weapon. Between
the two crews the Excalibur was brought to a steady state condition albeit
unmanuverable. The
was mapped and warnings (presumably) were made. The Excalibur limped home
and made repairs.

Engineer's Corner:
Tools of the Trade
By Lt. Cmdr Paul Saunders
I was sitting in a bar on the starbase the other day, minding my own
business when I overheard a conversation that two slightly well oiled engineers
where having on the other side of the room. Through the slurring and mumbling I
realized that they were having that well worn argument of "what is the
most useful tool in your tool box". It's funny but ever since I have not
been able to get the idea out of my mind. What is the most useful tool to a
Starfleet Engineer?
The P-98 is what most engineers refer to as a tin opener. It's a harmonic
resonator, will pop off the cover of any stuck hatch or access panel faster
than you can say "open sesame".
Then there is the good old tricorder, even the most well trained
engineering nose still can't detect everything. And all those little sensors
jammed into that compact portable box makes life so easy.
Still in the hearts and minds of all Engineers I think when push comes to
shove, the tool we depend on the most is our one sense of ingenuity. Out in the
big black there is seldom occurence that you get the part you want so to make
do and improvise has to be the motto of the engineering core.
