Individual Player Applications
Far Point Fleet recognizes the varied backgrounds and experience levels of the new players recruited for the fleet. Players are expected to adhere to all Fleet regulations and policies. A link to the player application form is provided below.
New to simming or just new to the fleet?
For those who are new to "simming", we offer a brief "Academy" curriculum which will provide opportunity to learn the ropes in a controlled setting before they are assigned to their regular ship. The USS Academy is located at Starbase 25 and is under the command of Rear Admiral A.C. MacGyver. The curriculum is made up of eight (8) lessons that begin with an overview of simming, work through character creation, skill points allocation, posting format, individual posts, joint posts, established canon background information that is particular to Starbase 25, and general writing tips. Our experience with this curriculum shows that it can be accomplished in as little as a week, or spread out over as long a time period as the player needs.
Once the player has completed the curriculum, RAdm MacGyver will do our version of college placement by determining what positions are available on each ship. The new player may choose between ships and open positions for their crew assignment. The first mission is completed as a "cadet" and is treated as a training cruise. After one mission, the cadet may choose to accept commission (regular assignment) on that ship, or may opt for a cruise on a different ship in the fleet.
Have prior simm experience?
For players who opt out of Academy entrance and who already know their ship preference, we will honor requests for specific ship assignment with permission from the Captain. The other alternative is for you to tell us what ship position(s) you are most interested in, and we will match your request with existing open positions on the ships.
For these players, we offer an abbreviated "orientation" that includes four (4) reading assignments from the Academy curriculum. These four assignments should explain the workings of the Starbase and familiarize players with the posting format used by Far Point fleet. Since we use the Starbase for an interaction point, it is important that all ships follow the same format.
