This character is responsible for gathering, analyzing and reporting astronomical and cosmological data gathered by ship sensors about the universe as it applies to space-faring missions. The character should have a working knowledge of physics, chemistry, astronomy, cosmology, and astrogation as they apply to safe space travel. The person who plays an astrometrics officer does not have to have a degree in the sciences in real life. However, researching a subject and using technobable lends realism to the story and makes things much more believable. This applies to all scientific jobs in a role playing game.

The AO maintains an Astrometrics station on the Bridge and is most frequently found in the Astrometrics lab but is also found in Engineering or Auxiliary Control.

The Astrometrics Officer operates in the Science Department and reports to the Chief Science Officer.

This is a specialist position that sees a relatively low level of inclusion and is featured mostly in space-faring missions.
