Personal History:

Carl Alexander Jarvis was born to the eve of January 1, 2352, to
Alexander and Caroline Jarvis.  Almost four years later came his
brother, Carl Simon.  Growing up in the Philippines, Carl Alexander
and Carl Simon had learned the "Traditional Filipino" way of dealing
with things.  He assimilated his mother's culture and were more
"Filipino" than American.

His father, Alexander, came from a long line of farmers.  So when he
married Caroline, he was more than willing to relocate to the breezy
countryside of Simala.  There he and his family setup a small farm
which he ran to provide just enough for his family.  Despite that,
they were happy and contented with that life and Alexander Jarvis was
contented with that.

Growing up in a tight-knit family setup, Carl stayed at his home in
Simala until he graduated from the Academy.  Despite the setup, he was
still able to cope up with his studies.  Unknown to him and his
family, he is suffering from Kusanagi Withdrawal Syndrome or KWS,
which is a rare disease which renders the patient in a catatonic state
for hours or years at a time...

*** LIFE ABOARD THE EXCALIBUR ***

His quarters lit up as he entered.  Slowly removing his uniform
jacket, Carl groaned.  His head hurt.  That Echo Talon had one hard
head, he thought.

But as he moved deeper into his room, he found himself staring at
Fuuko and Tatyana's holoimages...  They were such beautiful and kind
women...  Strong and smart...  But the two had something in common.
Both women he had loved passionately and both had died tragically...

They were still in their senior year in high school when Fuuko was
killed in that tragic post-graduation class trip accident.  He had
seen her brutalized by those pirates who had boarded their transport
ship.  He couldn't do anything because he was locked up so far away
from her...  Because of this, he had his first KWS attack.  He spent
three years in *withdrawal*.

He enrolled in Starfleet then in the hopes of being able to avenge
Fuuko's death.  But later on, he realized that what he does for
Starfleet would be for the best of ALL Federation denizens...

Then there was Tatyana...  Oh how he loved her.  After Fuuko, he
thought he'd never love anyone again.  Especially not Tatyana.  She,
Commander Tatyana Romanov, was the Chief Security Officer of the USS
Sentinel and was eight years his senior.  But just like Fuuko she had
died tragically as well.  Back then he was just a young Engineer who
had fallen for a *chief*.  But he had fallen hard for her that in the
end he had done some things to make her notice him.  Eventually the
two of them hooked up.  At first in secret but later on, the two of
them made it public.  They had planned to get married after almost a
year of a whirlwind romance.  But unfortunately, the tragedy had
happened a day before their wedding...

The Sentinel was assigned to deliver a diplomat on a relatively
hostile territory where two feuding planets in a star system called
Morel.  This diplomat was assigned to subdue the warring parties and
eventually come up with a peace treaty where in both parties would be
beneficial to both...

Tatyana had taken the bullet intended for the diplomat.  Her wounds
were treated but it was only enough to keep her alive until she and
the rest of the diplomatic party to return to the Sentinel.

Carl was devastated.  If that wasn't enough, his father died several
days later which worsened his condition.  Eventually, Carl succumbed
to his second "withdrawal".  The Doctor of the Sentinel couldn't do
anything about it, and decided that Carl be sent to Starfleet Medical
for further treatment.
