YorkshAir is a fairly new Virtual Air Service, having only just formed up after the owner, Neil Farnsworth, retired from Aviation Security. He then proceeded to take his private pilots license, as well as his instrument and commercial airline ratings. With his savings, he bought and restored a Douglas C-47 and Junkers Ju-52 (with some help from some assosciates) and from there, Farnsworth Air was born. At first, business was slow, but after a call from the RAF Search and Rescue/ Mountain Rescue units in North and East Riding of Yorkshire, England, Neil found that he could utilise his fleet for Search and Rescue taskings, helping out the RAF where-ever and whenever needed. Now, after a couple of years helping the RAF with their Search and Rescue needs, the fleet has expanded to include more aircraft. Farnsworth Air was then re-named "YorkshAir" and took on additional taskings from the RAF, involving non-operational cargo runs to and from RAF stations within the UK, as well as keeping up the Search and Rescue role. YorkshAir is Yorkshires only Virtual Search and Rescue Air Service with the potential to expand into something bigger. |
