My Budgies!

Come and see all my budgerigars!

I own and breed budgerigars. I have had
upto 30 at one time but am happy having
around 15. I have many colours and all
are named. At this point I'm running out of
names. Soon I'll have some pictures up of
baby budgerigars so you can see what
they look like when born and at different
stages. I hope this helps any one of interest.

These are two of my adult budgies.

Some Information about the breeding of Budgerigars.

Once the budgies are paired up you will expect the hen to lay eggs in
the next 10 to 14 days or so. The hen will sit on the eggs and they will
hatch in about 18 days. Budgies are born bald and pink and can't see
and are extremely small. When they are about 5 weeks old they are
ready to leave the nest. At about 7 weeks old they should be weaned
and be able to fly efficiently. You can now take them out of the cage to
be sold or to be put into another flight or still be kept in the same cage.
Your babies should be watched carefully once taken out of the nest as
they might turn sick after being taken away from their parents. They are
mostly fine but still keep an eye on them, as that frisky flying bird might
change to a puffed up, sleepy mess.
