=== HOW TO CONNECT AN OLD FASHIONED COMMODORE 1084-S VIDEO MONITOR ===
===                 TO YOUR NEW-N-TASTY PSX CONSOLLE                 ===

Finally I've made it... here's my last hack-trick about the PSX:
This circuit I'm going to explain works with ANY PSX and ANY 1084-S
monitor (if you own a 1085-S monitor you *shouldn't* build
the Sync adapter... just wire-up some cables and you've made it!)

The basic connections are:

* PSX         II    1084-S      *
=================================
* R  \        =>      R \       *
* G  I out    =>      G I in    *
* B  /        =>      B /       *
*                               *
* video  =>adapter=> sync       *
*                               *
* audio out   =>   audio in     *
*				*
* +5 Volts    \___ adapter pow. *
* GND         /    supply       *
=================================

THE SCHEMATICS OF THE ADAPTER AND ITS POWER SUPPLY ARE DRAWN IN "1084PIC.gif" & "1084VCC.gif"

You need to build this adapter in order to invert the video signal because
PSX generates a POSITIVE active video signal that works good with the TV set
but the 1084-S works only with NEGATIVE active video signal (or vertical
sync)
The 1085, instead,works with both positive and negative sync, so You don't
need to convert it !

NOTE: the Adapter doesn't need any battery to work ! it is supplied
by the PSX multi-AV out (via the * RGB SCART CABLE * )

Here are 1085-S wirings...

I recommend the solderings made by an expert technician and the use of good quality
shielded cable (specially for the RGB lines)

***** NOTES 1084-S NOTES *****

You need the adapter to convert the video signal from PSX to TV:
SCART pin 20 => adapter => Composite Sync (pin 7 of DB9 connector)
It's all based on a little "NOT" logic (74LS04) with a trimmer in order
to stabilize the sync.

***** TROUBLE-SHOOTING *****

If you can't get a bright and stable image please DOUBLE check :) theese points:

- The adapter's circuit and its power supply (if it doesn't seem to work
  at all, try to remove the voltage regulator LM7405 or LM74L05 and use
  the PSX supply directly)

- The wirings on the SCART ,DB9 connector & on the board you built

- The trimmer adjust (move it slowly and wait for the picture to get more
  stable)
