Mike points out, �I think it�s slightly more sophisticated in certain ways, but musically it�s all over the place like �Make Yourself� is.  It�s some of the heaviest music we�ve ever written, at the same time some of the most beautiful mellow music we�ve ever written.  It�s very across the spectrum, which is very cool.�

Incubus and Outkast begin headlining Moby�s Area:One Tour�s East Coast venues.

Incubus announces name of new album, plans to tour in the fall. 
Mike:  �We never did a proper headlining tour behind Make Yourself, so we're excited.  Half will be before the record comes out, the other half will be after. And we're going to play really cool venues. In places where we can play much bigger venues, we opted to play two nights at a smaller venue."

August 4, 2001
Incubus performs with Stone Temple Pilots, Tantric, and others at the Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. 
August 25, 2001 
Incubus plays at the Levi�s/KROQ Inland Invasion for the first �Do Something Day.� 
September 14, 2001
Headlining tour of USA/North America kicks off. 
September 15 & 16, 2001 
Incubus decides to perform in NYC after terrorist attacks (the only major act scheduled to do so), donate proceeds from both shows to relief efforts, along with promoter Metropolitan Entertainment and radio sponsor WXRK-FM. 
�I almost felt like it was our responsibility to step out of the fear we were experiencing,� said Brandon, �and�this sounds stupid�try to life people up a little.�

September 23, 2001 
Incubus performs at the MuchMusic Video Awards. 
October 23, 2001 
Morning View is released.  It debuts at #2. 
Mike:  �Our creative process is dramatically affected by atmosphere.  Our previous material came from sessions in a dark, uninspiring rehearsal studio, so this time we wanted to see what it would be like to work in a beautiful house over the ocean.  It made our work far more enjoyable, and it shows in the music.�

Civic Tour kicks off at Key Arena in Seattle. 
Brandon:  �This arena rock thing is pretty new to us, but we are having a good time.  We�re kinda hell bent on the idea of bringing that intimacy that we�ve grown so accustomed to at smaller places into the big room, which is proving to be a pretty big challenge because you�re playing to five times the people.  We gotta assume that�s a nice problem to have.�
