| Searching for the destiny - Chapter 18: Electric Star Author's note: This chapter is for DragonBlack151. Thank you for helping me that much!!! ****** Sephia yawned and stood up. Every inch of her body ached. Yesterday, they had trained until it was too dark to see. Then, they had walked for another hour before sleeping. Now they were near Pewter City and the Pokmon returned into the Pokballs. When Sephia entered the city, the first thing she did was buying some new cookies and other food. Now, they had no more money again. It was a sunny day when Sephia walked through Pewter City. It was smaller than Viridian City and Sephia enjoyed the silence. Finally, she sat down on a bank and started reading another chapter of the book Professor Oak gave to her. "Hm, let's see..", she mumbled, grabbed her bag and took out a pencil and a piece of paper, writing something down while flipping through the pages. Then, she put everything back into her bag and continued her walk. Finally, she spotted the top of the gym and walked there. Above the entrance was a big rock, with the engraved words 'Pewter Gym - Leader: Brock' on it. Excited, Sephia stepped into a large room which was completely dark. Her first real battle for a badge! "Hello? Someone here?", she shouted into the darkness. Suddenly, lights flashed up and Sephia was blind for a moment. Then, she saw a boy, standing at the opposite wall of the arena which was covered with rocks. "Are you Brock?", she asked. "Yes, I am. My favourite Pokmon are rock-Pokmon. Do you want to fight them?" "Yes, I want to fight." "Ok. A fight with two Pokmon?" "Sounds ok. Let's start." Both stepped to the arena and Brock threw a Pokball. Out of it came the biggest Pokmon Sephia had ever seen. It looked like a giant snake. She grabbed her Pokdex. 'Onix, a rock-Pokmon. It can grow until it is eight meters long. But even if it looks scary, it is a friendly Pokmon', a voice echoed out of it. Sephia sighed. "It doesn't look very friendly", she said. "Onix is a wonderful Pokmon. It's right, normally it's very friendly, but it's very strong, too. No one has ever beaten it", Brock claimed. "Then I'll be the first!", Sephia shouted and threw a Pokball. This time, she had put them in a special order and she knew which Pokmon was in which ball. The red light revealed - Zapdos. Brocks jaw dropped down, but then, he started smiling. "I never believed that I may see a legendary Pokmon. But I wonder how you caught it since you aren't a good trainer." Sephia gasped in surprise. "How will you know that I'm a bad trainer!?", she yelled at Brock. "Because Zapdos is an electric Pokmon. Even if my Onix would be at level 1 and your Zapdos would be at level 90, Zapdos would still lose. No electric attack can harm a rock Pokmon." Sephia stared at Brock and took out her book. Finally, she found the page with the weakness of each Pokmon-type. Brock was right. She gulped, but then, she caught herself. "This may be right for normal electric Pokmon. But Zapdos is the BEST! He'll beat your Onix!", she shouted. Brock just smiled in disbelieve and Sephia turned to Zapdos. "Ok, Zapdos. He says that you are unable to beat that Onix. I say: You can do it! Let's prove the world that you are the best electric Pokmon!" 'Yes, we'll do!', Zapdos shouted and his wings buzzed with electricity. Sephia turned to Brock again. "Maybe you are right. Maybe Zapdos can't beat you with electricity. But don't forget that he is a flying Pokmon, too. His flying attack might be not effective, but I think that your Onix isn't on level 53 like my Zapdos." She grinned when she saw Brocks smile fading. "Level 53?!", he asked. She nodded. Brock thought about it for a moment. "Even if you don't lie...I'll win! Onix, Rock Throw!" Onix grabbed a few rocks from the arena with its tail and threw them at Zapdos. "Zapdos, avoid the attack! Use Thundershock!", Sephia shouted. "Remember your training! Avoid and attack!" Zapdos flew up and avoided the stones with difficulty. Then, he flew to Onix, sat down at its head and released the electricity. Onix was surrounded by yellow light, but when Zapdos flew back to Sephia, it was still at perfect health. Sephia panicked a little bit. "Ok, no problem, let's use the Drill Peck!", she ordered. Zapdos flew up until he reached the ceiling and dived down at Onix, rolling in the air so his long peck hit Onix between the eyes with full power. It screamed and twisted itself and Zapdos were hit with the stone-tail by surprise. He coughed and landed. "Zapdos! Fly up! Fly up!", Sephia screamed, but Brock already shouted "Onix, use Wrap! You are winning!" The long snake wrapped itself around Zapdos and squeezed the bird. Zapdos screamed in pain. Sephia nearly cried when she saw her friend. 'I have to give up', she thought. 'I have to rescue him. But...why can't he win? I was sure he could. Maybe I am a bad trainer...' Tears were running down her cheeks. She could nearly feel the pain Zapdos was having. 'Zapdos...my Zapdos...no...I'm sure he can win...please, Zapdos, find your inner strength, you can do it, use the powers you have...' "THUNDERBOLT!", she yelled at the top of her lung and a bright flash of electricity made her blind again, she heard Brock yelling in surprise, she heard the screams of the two fighting Pokmon and when she dared to open her eyes again she saw Zapdos, stumbling, but free. Onix was lying on the floor, unconscious, smoke was coming from the stone-snake. Sephia couldn't believe her eyes, but then, she ran to Zapdos, embracing him. "You...you won....", she sobbed. 'Yes...because of you. You told me to find my inner strength.' She looked up. "No, I haven't. I thought it, but I never said." He looked at her. 'I heard it. You gave me your strength. I felt like I could handle everything. I heard your heart pounding. It was like...we were one person for a short time....I don't understand it...' She smiled. "It doesn't matter for now. We'll ask Mewtwo, maybe he'll know what happened. For now, you really deserved a break." He nodded and she grabbed the Pokball when Zapdos stumbled back again, gasping. "Zapdos!?", she shouted. 'Sephia...I know it...a new attack...I think....', he whispered. She ran to her bag, pulling out her book again. "Which one?", she shouted. "Thunder?" 'Y-yes, I think...should I learn it? It's hard...to remember...all the time....' "Yes, learn it, learn it! Forget Thunderwave! Just learn Thunder!" Zapdos concentrated and suddenly, he relaxed again. "Are you alright?", Sephia asked concerned. He nodded. 'Yes, I'm fine. Now, I know Thunder! I..can't remember Thunderwave...so that's what Oak meant...' She nodded. "You are really great, Zapdos! Now, come back into your Pokball, after the battle, I'll take you to a Pokcenter!" She used the Pokball again and the bird disappeared in red light. She stepped back to her place at the end of the arena. "Un..unbelieveable...", she heard Brock whisper. She looked at him. His clothes were dirty, maybe he fell when Zapdos had used the Thunderbolt. He called Onix back into the Pokball. "I don't understand how you did it. But it's not over yet. I still have another Pokmon! Go, Golem!" he threw another Pokball and a Pokmon which looked like a giant rock-turtle came out of it. Sephia smiled. She wouldn't even need the Pokdex. This was another rock Pokmon. "I won't make the same mistake two times!", she shouted and threw her Pokball. Suicune came out and looked around. She smiled when she spotted the Golem. "How nice. A rock Pokmon. This'll be funny!", she said. Brock nearly fainted. "It speaks!", he whispered. Suicune looked at him angrily. "It's not 'it', it's 'she', Mister. I'm a girl!", she growled. "S-sorry", Brock mumbled. "Can we start?", Sephia asked. "Yeah", Rock said, sweating. "What's Suicunes level?" "I think it's 45, isn't it?", Sephia asked and Suicune nodded. "45...this is a dream...but ok, Golem, use Earthquake!", he ordered and Golem started jumping up and down, the ground shacked. "Whoa", Suicune said surprised and jumped out of the way when a rock nearly fell on her. "Suicune, do the same you did in the training!", Sephia said and Suicune started running in circles around the Golem. "Where is she?", Brock asked. "She's too fast for your eyes - and for your Golem!", Sephia said. Just in this second, Suicune used her Water Gun. It hit the Golem with great force and it crashed against the wall. Suicune stopped and walked to Sephia. Sephia hugged her friend. "We've won, Suicune! We have the second badge!", Sephia shouted. "Really?", Suicune shouted excited, "I never thought it would be that easy!" "Zapdos had have more problems. He learned Thunder!", Sephia said. "O wow!" Suicune jumped up and down. "He must show me! I wonder if I can manage it to get hit by a Thunder!" "We'll see, Suicune. Zapdos is injured. We have to take him to the Pokcenter!" "Oh..." Suicune stopped jumping. "Poor Zapdos." "Excuse me..", Brock said suddenly. "Here is your badge and the money you get for winning, 500 Pokdollar. This was the most unbelievable battle I've ever seen! I was wrong, you are a great trainer with great Pokmon." He gave Sephia the badge and she looked at it. "Thank you, Brock. Please, don't tell anyone about my Pokmon or the press will be after us like crazy", Sephia begged. Brock nodded. "I promise. If you want to go to the next gym, go to Cerulean City, through Mt. Moon. She loves water Pokmon, I bet she's no match for your Zapdos." Sephia smiled. "Maybe. But Moltres wants to fight, too. I think it's a better training if Pokmon fight against Pokmon which are their weakness." "Moltres?!", Brock gasped. "Is there a legendary Pokmon you don't have?" "Um, I'm not sure how many legendary Pokmon exist. I have Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, Suicune, Mew and Mewtwo." "M-Mewtwo? Mew? If this is true, the Elite 4 are no match for you!" Sephia grinned. "We don't want to fight the Elite 4. We are going for Lugia and Ho-oh." Suicune nodded. "Do they really exist?" Brock asked. "Who knows? We'll find out!", Sephia claimed. Brock and Sephia shook hands. "I'm sure you will. Take care!", he said. "Thanks", Sephia answered. "I have to go now. My Zapdos has to go to the Pokcenter!" Brock nodded. "Just go the next street left and you'll see it." "Thanks again! Goodbye!", Sephia said and ran out. Luckily, Brock was right, she needed five minutes to reach the Pokcenter. It was completely empty, just a Chansey was in there. "My Pokmon is injured!", Sephia shouted, exhausted from running all the way. "Who is injured?", a voice came from a room and Nurse Joy hurried to Sephia. "My Pokmon!", Sephia said again and gave Joy the Pokball. "Chansey, bring a litter!", the nurse ordered and opened the Pokball. Zapdos came out and nearly fainted. Joy gasped. "That's...that's....", she started. "That's an injured Pokmon!", Sephia nearly yelled at the stunned nurse. Joy nodded. "Yes, you're right. I'll do my best to heal Zapdos, you can wait in there", she said and pointed to a door to the left. Sephia nodded and petted Zapdos. "Nurse Joy will help you. I'll wait there, ok?", she asked her friend. Zapdos nodded weakly. Sephia gave him a smile and went to the room Joy has shown her. No one was there, so Sephia released the other Pokmon. "Where are we?", Mewtwo asked when they looked around. "We are in a Pokcenter. Zapdos is injured", Sephia said and started telling them about the battle. The Pokmon looked at each other, confused. "Maybe it was telepathy, but I don't think so", Mewtwo said finally. 'Can't we phone Professor Oak?', Moltres asked. "Great idea!", Sephia shouted and looked around. There were some telephones in a corner. Sephia and the others stepped to them and Sephia took out a piece of paper. Oaks phone number was written on it. She dialled and Professor Oaks face appeared on the screen. "Ah, Sephia!", he shouted. "It's good that you phone me. I have news." "And I have a question, Professor", she said and told the story of Zapdos' battle again. The professor stared at her, then, he suddenly shouted something and hurried off. He returned a few seconds later with a book. "That's what I wanted to tell you! Another legend, if you want to call it that. It says: 'The guardians power, the ancient attacks, are strong enough to defeat everything, except the united hearts which pound in unison.' I didn't understand it before, but now that you mention the thing with Zapdos, maybe it's that what the book means." Sephia looked at her Pokmon. "But why? I mean, do you think it's my destiny to fight Lugia and Ho-oh or why does this happens to us. It's not a usual thing, is it?" "No", the professor said. "I have read somewhere that it's the sign that Pokmon and human understand each other, they know what the other thinks, what he feels. Do you spend much time with your Pokmon?" "We train together and so on. We do everything together we can do without being seen by others." "You TRAIN with them? I've never heard of a trainer who trained with his or her Pokmon. Maybe it's because of that. You learn to understand them and their attacks, how they attack and defend, how they move if you do the same." "But we have trained just one day so far." "But you know each other longer." "Yes, we do, but..." "Sephia, I can't tell you the solution yet. Please, phone me every week and tell me if something like that happens again, ok?" "Yes, Professor Oak." Suddenly, she remembered something. She ran to her bag and took out the paper she had written this morning. "Professor, is there a way that Mewtwo can learn Seismic Toss?", she asked. Mewtwo looked at her, confused. "Mewtwo is a psychic Pokmon", Oak said. "I know, but I want that he is able to beat Pokmon he is weak against, too. A fighting attack would be a good solution and he is strong enough to do something like that, I think." Oak thought about it. "There's a TM which contains this attack. Maybe you can buy it somewhere. I think it's TM 19. Try to use the TM on Mewtwo and you will see if he can learn it." "Thank you, Professor." "Phone me again, will you?" "Sure. Bye!" The picture disappeared and the screen was black again. Sephia sat down on a chair in the other corner. The Pokmon joined her. "I should learn Seismic Toss?", Mewtwo asked. Sephia nodded. "This morning, I've made a list which attacks each of you should learn. In the book was a picture of a Charizard, performing Seismic Toss." She gave Mewtwo the book. The picture showed a flying Charizard. "It flies up and smashes its opponent down. You can fly, too, so it shouldn't be too hard for you. And it's a really good attack", Sephia explained. Mewtwo gave her the book. "Sounds good. Ok, so let's try to get the TM", he said. 'What should I learn?', squeaked Mew. "Mew...Reflect, Psychic, Recover and Flail", Sephia said. 'What's Flail?', Mew asked. "If you are injured, the attack gets stronger. I think you can perform it easily with your long tail. It's a normal attack, without any type like psychic or water, but you already know some more psychic tricks." 'I do?' "Yes, remember how you blasted the walls in Team Rockets hideout? That wasn't Psychic and you just know Reflect and Psychic as psychic attacks." 'Yay, right! That's good, isn't it?', Mew squeaked. Sephia laughed. "Yes, Mew, you're really great!" 'Can I have a cookie for being great?', Mew asked. Everyone laughed and Sephia got out the new cookies. Mew squeaked, nuzzled her and started eating the cookie. 'What about me?', Articuno asked. Sephia looked at her paper. "Ice Beam, Blizzard, Fly and Sky Attack. This should be a good mix of flying and ice attacks." 'And me?', Moltres asked. "Fire Blast, Fire Spin, Sky Attack and Flamethrower." 'Sounds good', Moltres said. "What's with me, Sephia?", Suicune asked. "Water Gun, Hydro Pump, Gust and Bubblebeam. I also thought of Agility, but I think that you are already fast enough." Suicune nodded. 'What's with Zapdos?', Articuno asked. "Um...Thunder, Thunderbolt, Drill Peck and Sky Attack." "And when I can learn Seismic Toss, what should I forget for it?", Mewtwo asked. "Psybeam. Just like Mew, you already know more psychic things than the two attacks. So it's ok when you forget Psybeam." Finally, Sephia put the paper back into her bag. "We'll walk through Mt. Moon tomorrow. Is it ok when we train in the mountain?", Sephia asked. The Pokmon nodded. "Ok. Then, we'll fight the next gym leader. Brock told me that she uses water Pokmon. Now, it's Articunos and Moltres turn. Moltres, is this ok for you? You are weak against water Pokmon." 'If Zapdos can beat a rock Pokmon, I should beat a water Pokmon without problems!', Moltres said and Sephia smiled. "Ok, maybe the next gym leader wants to battle with more than two Pokmon. Is there someone who wants to battle against water Pokmon, too? Or should Articuno or Moltres battle all of them?", Sephia asked. "Maybe Zapdos should battle if he wants. He deserves an easy fight and he could test his Thunder", Suicune said. Sephia nodded. "Ok, we'll ask him. I hope he can fight. He didn't look very healthy." Suddenly, the door opened and Joy stepped in. She gasped when she saw the five Pokmon. Behind her, Zapdos came in. He had a bandage around his head, but looked ways better. "Zapdos!", Sephia shouted and everyone ran to the electric Pokmon, hugging him, which was difficult due to his spiky feathers. But even Mewtwo embraced him for a short time. "He is fine, but let him rest for one or two days", Joy said and Sephia nodded. "You can sleep here, too. We don't have many Pokmon here now, so there are enough free beds for all of you." Mew nuzzled Joy and everyone laughed. "Thanks, we accept", Sephia said. "Then I'll get some food now." Joy hurried off. Sephia and the others started telling Zapdos about their further plans, Professor Oak and about the attacks Zapdos should learn. Then, the other Pokmon asked him how it is to learn new attacks. They talked about one hour after eating, then, everyone went to bed, happy that another badge was theirs. To be continued.... ****** Please, R+R :) [email protected] |
