"Hey! Articuno! Are you awake?", a voice ask, but he was still tired, with no strength to open his eyes.
"Articuno! You are captured by Team Rocket! Wake up!"
Team Rocket...captured....? His mind was empty. He was sure to be in his icy cave. But...there was something about a Rattata...a doll...the cage...the cage! Articuno hurried to fight against the sleep and opened his eyes slowly. Everything was dark, but suddenly he sensed a light.
"Are you alright?", the female voice asked.
He turned his aching head and looked into two pale blue eyes. Articuno gasped in shock. The voice belonged to a Pok�mon, almost as rare as he was. Suicune, the legendary dog. Her long, violet hair was flowing like a waterfall and the crystal on her head shined in the colours of the rainbow. Now Arti understood why Suicune was called the aurora Pok�mon.
"Arti arti cuno? (You can speak the human language?)"
"Yes... just like Mewtwo." She walked away a little bit, so Articuno saw where the light was coming from. In the corner of the large room sat Moltres, the fire bird. Some trainers said that Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos were brothers, but in fact, they haven't met each other. Until now, because next to Moltres laid Zapdos, sleeping.
"You see, you are not the only one." Suicune walked back to him.
"Cuno cu cuno? Arti cu cuno? (Were you captured with a doll, too? Why are we captured?)"
"Yes, a doll. I was running down a hill and saw a Magikarp swimming in a lake. I jumped into it, but suddenly a net caught me, it was hidden in the mud at the ground. And the Magikarp was just a doll. Then I felt that something hit me and a few seconds later, I was unconscious and when I woke up, I was here. In the next week, the others were captured. And today, you came. You ask why? We are rare, that's it. But even if we are asleep, a Pok�ball is not enough to capture us. So Team Rocket decided to weaken us here. I'm here for more than a week and haven't got any food. When we are too weak, we are the new Pok�mon of Giovanni, the boss." She looked to the ground. "I thought that the humans are too dumb and too slow to capture me. But in fact, I'm dumb. I was captured with an old trick." Moltres looked to her.
"Mol tres tres, mol! (We were all fooled by Team Rocket, not just you!)"
"Thanks, Moltres!" Suicune went to him and laid down, enjoying the warm fire from his wings. "Every time I stand up I'm feeling weaker and weaker. I don't know how much longer I can move", she whispered, tears in her eyes. Articuno stood up, but everything went blurry. Every inch of his body ached like hell. After a few minutes, he tried again. He tottered to Moltres. Even if his fire was weak and small, it was still too warm for Articuno. He sat down a few steps away.
"Arti arti cu cu! (Then let's escape from here!)"
"Idiot! Even I can't break free!"
Articuno turned around and gasped. In the darkest edge of the room sat Mewtwo and was looking at him. His dark, violet eyes were full of hate. But even the great Mewtwo looked beaten. His fur was dirty and some bloody spots were on it. Articuno had never seen him and the first thought he had was that Mewtwo looked more like a fighting Pok�mon than a Psycho.
"Arti arti? Cuno arti cuno! (Even you? 'Even you' was fooled!)
"How dare you?! You'll regret this!" A ball of psychic energy appeared in his hand. Articuno got in fighting position, even if he knew that he would loose. But suddenly a small pink Pok�mon with big, blue eyes flew between them.
"Mew mew mew mew! Mew mew! (Don't do this, Mewtwo! He is a victim, too!)" The legendary Mew flew to Articuno and nuzzled him short. Then she flew to Mewtwo, laying down at his head. Articuno decided that he liked the original more than the clone. Mewtwo looked up to Mew.
"You are still a child. You don't understand the situation!"
"Mew mew mew mew! (I just know I'm hungry and that fighting makes even more hunger!)"
"See what I mean? A child..." Mewtwo shook his head and closed his eyes. "Damn the humans! They must die, all of them. First, they create me, then they catch me and after that, they want to boss me around!"
"Arti arti arti! Cu cuno arti! (If you let them boss you around! We must break free!)"
"Look at the walls, you fool! They look like stone walls, but after the stone is a strange field of force. I can't break through it and if I can't do it, the others can't, too. But just try..." "Cuno arti arti! (Then let's unite our powers!)" "With this worthless Pok�mon? Or you? Forget it!" Mewtwo turned around. "Arti arti! Arti cu cu cuno! (Then stay here. We are going now!)" Mew looked up.
"Mew mew mew mew? Mew? (You are leaving? How?)"
"Cuno arti cuno cu cu arti! (With united powers, we can break through, even without the 'great Mewtwo'!)" Mew looked at him and at Mewtwo. Finally she flew to Articuno. Mewtwo didn't move. Articuno went to Suicune and the others. "Arti arti? (What about you?)" Suicune and Moltres looked up.
"Are you sure we can make it? It'll take my last strength, if I try. But...I think I can wait until they capture me or at least try to break free, right?" Articuno nodded. She stood up. "Mol? mol tres! (Why not? Let's try!)"
"Zapdos! Zapdos, wake up!" Suicune kicked the legendary bird a little but stopped when his sharp feathers hurt her paw. "Zap? (What?)", he mumbled sleepy. "We are leaving! Wanna join us?" Zapdos, now fully awaken, stood up. "Zap!...Dos? Dos! Zap dos dos! (Sure!...Articuno? You here? O well, let's move!)"
"Mew! (Here!)" All of them turned around and looked at Mew. She tried to pull a stone out of the wall. Zapdos went to her and together they opened a hole. "That's the hole Mewtwo blasted in the wall when he arrived", Suicune explained. Articuno went to Mew and Zapdos and looked into the opened passage. He saw a yellow field. "It won't hurt us, it's just stopping us!" Suicune sat down next to him, followed by Moltres. "Arti arti! (So let's blast it!)"
They all used their attacks at the same time, Suicune started a huge Water gun, Mew shot a big psychic ball at it, Moltres used Flame toss, Zapdos used Thunderbolt and Articuno Ice beam. A huge explosion followed and all were covered in dirt. But the field was still there. "Idiots!", Mewtwo mumbled. The others looked disappointed, Suicune collapsed, Mew tottered in air and the three birds were exhausted. Suddenly, Zapdos gasped. "Zap! Zap zap dos zap dos dos zap! (We are idiots! Maybe we are strong enough, but the Flame toss melted the ice beam and the Water gun erased the Flame toss!)" Moltres looked down. "Mol tres...(Now everything is over...)" He went to his corner, falling asleep. Zapdos followed. Articuno looked at the ground, he hated the feeling of being helpless. Next to him, Mew was crying. He nuzzled the small pink Pok�mon and she flew up and laid down at his head. Articuno smiled, walked to the field and tried to look through it. He saw another room with a table and two chairs and a huge window at the left wall. Suddenly, an idea came to his mind. He ran to the wall where Mewtwo was resting.
"Arti arti arti! Cuno! (Mew, destroy this wall! Please!)" The small Pok�mon looked confused, but flew up and shot a Psychic at the wall. Another explosion took place and Mewtwo jumped back quickly. "What are you doing, Idiot!?" When the smoke disappeared, there was another field. Behind it, there was a huge forest. Suicune went next to Mew. "Now we can see the world outside. How nice. I wanna run through the world again..." "Arti arti! Cuno cu, cu cuno...arti. Arti cuno cu. (You will! It's just as I thought, we are in a room next to...the freedom. Maybe there is a way to escape.)" "And how?" "Arti arti arti cuno cu cu cuno cuno. (Maybe the field of force isn't under the floor and we can dig a hole.)" Suicune looked at him, amazed. "Yes...yes, this could work! You're great, Articuno!" Before Articuno could answer, Mew shot another psychic at the floor, revealing the earth under the stones. Everyone, even Mewtwo, went there. "Hm, well, I guess even an idiot can sometimes have a good idea", Mewtwo mumbled. Articuno smiled. "Arti! (Thanks!)" Mewtwo looked away and everyone laughed. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise from above. Mewtwo looked through the field of force. "A helicopter. Damn it. They'll find us when we escape." Suicune shook her head. "No. Not if just one escape and get some help." "And who'll help us? Some wild Pok�mon? They are too afraid. Some humans? Not without catching us!" "We have to try! First we must see IF we can escape!" She started to dig. "Stay away. I'm the best one for this." Everyone stepped back.
After an hour, Suicune was tired and Mewtwo continued to dig until Suicune got some rest. Then she continued her work while the others were sleeping.
They woke up when Suicune kicked them a little. She was jumping up and down! "I've done it! There's no field! We can escape!" Everyone was fully awaken in a second. "Mol mol tres? (And who will get the help?)" "Only Mew and I fit through the hole. But since I speak the human language and I'm the fastest of us, I think I should go." "Arti arti cuno! Cuno cuno! (But you've done that much! You have to rest!)" "She's right", Mewtwo said. "Mew is just a child and very naive. Suicune should go." Mew looked confused, but said nothing.
Slowly Articuno nodded with the others. "Wish me luck!", Suicune said and went through the hole. The remaining prisoners saw her disappearing in the night.
