The aurora-borealis - the night-lights….. They can be seen so clearly because at altitudes as high as this (3,000ft), there is little pollution. The greenness in the middle of the picture on the left is the reflection of street lights in the towns below on the clouds. This picture is taken at about 3,000ft up.
