A crowd of about 70,000 on hand, with notable attendees Robbie, Craig, Grant (tsk tsk) and myself were present at Stadium Australia to cheer on the Mighty Mighty Blues against the Moronic Maroons. The atmosphere was deafening as the Blues ran out onto the pitch, and even more so at half time when they were in front!
However a try late in the game to Dane Carlaw followed by a conversion by Lote "Traitor" Tuqiri levelled the socres at 18 a piece at full time, meaning that the Canetoads got to keep the trophy! Grrrr! Angie and Goo (Libby) were on the phone to us straight away, and Grant was one of about 100 Queenslander fans in the northern stand. You should have seen all the rubbish that lay at our feet, all the rubbish that everyone behind us (and us included) threw at Grant when he would cheer on the Queenslanders. Oh well. A large Darryl Bronham lookalike came up to hug (and I bet kiss) Grant after the full time siren went off. Robbie was fuming, and Craig & I were silent. But only because I still hadn't recovered my voice... |
