Wow I didnt even like the original movie, yet I decided to catch the sequel. Now most people (read as the NAACP and the united negro college fund) might think Im racist, and I suppose I am to some extent, not by choice, but hell Its not that I harbor ill will towards them or wish them any particular harm but I might chuckle at inappropriate jokes and even repeat a few of them.. Reguardless I REALLY did enjoy the first 60% of cop flick (think lethal weapon 2 but not quite so damn lame with the racial humor and more of will smith being a bad ass).
It revolved around a pair of the same RACE cops. Woo woo no more cultural clashes, well as far as that goes, one is still rich, while the other is slightly richer, and the less rich guy still holds that against the richer. I have no issue with this it makes for alot of nifty rivalry cliche use. However the will smith character is portrayed as mr super bad ass through out the movie which I dont see as fitting into his persona, but maybe thats a poor perception of will Smith I harbor.
Reguardless the main plot revovles around extacy dealing out of Russian owned nightclubs in Miami, and their cuban kingpin. You get to watch the russians get wiped out, and the fight of these fearless cops against the Cuban Mob boss. With the poorer cops kid sister thrown into the mix as will smiths (who elses, love interest)
The moments in the Hifi store are classic, them running over cadavers and having one stuck on the car also impressive, as is the car jacking dan marino. The entire highway scene is pretty lame if you have already seen matrix 2, but still i guess they did put alot of effort into it so i thought id mention it.
Now in the last 1/3 of the movie, the bad guys find out their money launderer is really the poorer cops sister and kidnap her and go back TO CUBA! Hes already in cuba damn it, at this point several guys from vice and whoever else team up to strike the drug lord where he lives and save the girl... damn it it was all going so nicely till they decided to add this, pissed me off.
